This is a great point that shouldn't be overlooked. Is it at all unreasonable to think there are 12,000 memberships? We all complain about purchase limits, but it's certainly possible that they can't offer more than 1 per given the print run.

If there are 22,000+ boxes, that would make a lot of sense!

I do see where some frustration could be with this. New members paid $600 for a membership to see limits go down to 1 box per membership. I have no complaints as I’m a renewal, but if I saw what happened last few years and then paid $600…. I kinda get it

And they will make 1/3 of their money back just on one box of sapphire. So I do not agree with you at all. Nothing to complain about.

Honestly at this point, why not make all these Montgomery Club Exclusive. Non members are going to get screwed either way..why not screw the bots over too? It's all going to get sold regardless. At least with Mont Club, more product will go to people to actually want to open than just pure flippers

If they decide to sell their box. Not everyone is a flipper. Some people want to open product

Making it club-only has some RC classification issues, for those who care about such things. Typically the cards in a set that isn't available nationally can't qualify as rookie cards. That will have some PSA set registry consequences. I realize about 95% of the people in here aren't interested in that.

Edit: Also this is Bowman Sapphire, not Topps Sapphire, so there wouldn't be RCs anyway. Carry on.

Oh I know lol...just saying...it's the easiest way to deter bots in my opinion. Topps knows these public releases are all going to bots..they just don't care.

I've missed out on MC membership each year so far, and yet I'd also tend to agree with this! Plenty of MC flippers too, of course, but very possibly a smaller percentage of the whole than among everyone else looking to buy.

You don't think the bots would bot the Montgomery club membership when it opens then bot every release? Bots are just superior. Even when Topps\Target wins one drop in stopping them, they have a work around ready for the next drop.

I do think it is unreasonable...Why? Brooklyn Collection.... That use to be Montgomery Exclusive (I do not think it went public in 2020 and sold out within the club)

That year there were 5350 boxes made. So if everyone bought their 2, that would have been at minimum 2675 memberships.

This year (2021), had 7000 boxes made. I believe that if we had 12K "members", we would have sold it out again this year.

Posting here probably will fall on deaf ears...but perhaps if enough MC members hit Topps various social media platforms, though the bots and their members will certainly fire back.

Theres no 100% solution...if they did at least a) they'd have to pay the $600 membership fee per account and b) those who are already in the club won't be affected

Topps has really hit a new low when botters can work around the queue system and buy boxes, while everyone else has to wait and they're like, "Whatever, just ship 'em out."

When the limits where higher nobody in MC was guaranteed a box. There were times I wasn't able to buy any, much less my limit if 3. So either they want to prevent that by lowering the limit, or lower it because the magic 8 back said to. I'm not sure which I'd prefer... 3 at the risk of 0, or little to no issues getting 1.
