Seems like we should be looking for a low PR from the Grotesk Gooden.

One of the least popular players, traditionally low artist PRs so far, and less than stellar feedback from people = low PR.

I'd be very surprised if it ends up over 7-8k at the most.

It really does seem like it. I'm feeling this way myself.

Been watching this thread for 4 weeks now (even commented occasionally). End of last week I picked up my first 4 cards from the set.

During that time, I have tried to decide how I wanted to collect. Do I pick my favorite player or two? Do I figure out which artist I like best and go for that one? Do I just pick and choose based on first impression? Or just get the entire 400 card set?

The solution finally came to me. I want it all! but I don't want everything because it takes up too much space and takes up too much money (I have other Card interests too).

20 artists, 20 cards means you could get a sampling of each card and player in just 20 cards not repeating an artist or a player. But, I would not be able to compare art styles or artist interpretations. So I am going to get 40 cards! My aim is to get 40 cards that when compiled, will depict two of each player and two from every artist.

I also have an idea on how to display. First, get one of those wall display cases that fits the 40 cards. I am thinking start with a card, say Trout-Ermsy, next to it a Trout-Baller, then Henderson-Baller, then Henderson-Jameison, then McGwire-Jameison, then Mcgwire-Naturel, and hopefully you see the pattern.

The advantages:
1. two cards from same artist side by side to appreciate their style
2. two player side by side to compare the interpretations
3. smaller size to display in one place
4. $800 art collection plus display case that represent what Project 2020 is.

I am getting more than this but I absolutely love your display idea.

I'll probably end up displaying mine in the order I got them, to help me remember the experience as it happened.

The Grotesk Gooden is sure to be an SP. That’s why everyone should buy it!

I am hoping that Baller uses this as the basis for his Jeter card.

(You can't see the fifth one on his thumb.)

Same. Complete opposite of my original plan. Right now, I’m kind of targeting the artists that I like most—trying to get their sets. That way if card prices spike again, at least I’ve got those sets done at SRP.

I don’t think we will have any idea about the true demand for this set until next year once all cards are in-hand and people start going back and picking up what they need. In my opinion, this will go down as one of the most collected sets of this time—artist sets/player sets, then all those who go for the full master set challenge.

I know print runs are higher now but I’m not ready to declare low prices forever. Learning from everything else these days once the SRP availability passes and the secondary market takes over for all P2020 cards, all bets are off for pricing. That’s just what we know in our baseball card world—which this extends beyond.

Someone should add a gift basket in the background of one of Jeter's cards

THE GOAT!!

I've said it before and Ill say it again- Derek Jeter is the true barometer of this set. He is 5X more popular than Trout and his fanbase is made up of die had fans that will hold cards in PCs

Jeter's PR numbers I feel are more indicative of true fans than Trout and Griffeys inflated numbers. I could be wrong but thats my story.

Yeah the regular topps card isn't great, but its one of the few cards of that era that has any value.

On the plus side the 93 topps card I feel gives the artists more reign as to what to do. the image of Jeter is so small compared to the overall card

I know some people dislike the Yankees and Jeter but I can say for a fact that I have met him on a few occasions here in Tampa and he is a truly nice guy. Very friendly, will shake your hand, look you in the eye and take pictures if you like.

Get the 5-pack of every card.

You will have one complete set, one set of every artist, and one set of every player. Then you sell the other two complete sets to fund all your purchases. You. Can’t. Lose.
