Going into a little more obscure territory to find value. Added the #16 bazooka to match the #16 b/w.

Paper parallels seem to always go up last. The '18 indie is very popular so I can see someone paying 3, though PSA 9 sales suggest the mentioned range.

Haha, $1 Wednesdays and $1 hot dogs! Despite the SFG being my favorite team, A's were easily my second favorite. I know the area was sketch AF but I'll still miss the Coliseum area (for the A's & Dubs).

Btw, BART upgraded their trains over the past few years, more clean with less seats (closer to NY subway style).

With my recent retirement I've found a lot of extra time on my hands and this is the least I could do for family

Add to that, I told my Son the other bobblehead is for him to keep. I told him that last year when we went to Dodgers stadium as a family for the Shoehei's 1st bobblehead that my original plans were to sell them all (to cover the cost for us all to attend the game) and keep only one but I kept them all and regret it from the perspective of investment return but that I'm a collector and sometimes we collectors don't abide by proper investment principles. He said he would rather sell the one we acquired yesterday right away to get a return and I told him, I tell you what Son, I'll buy your bobblehead from you for $100 and he said, "Sold"! So I will give him a crisp $100 bill and I'll keep the bobblehead and give it to him someday anyway. I'm sure there are some lessons in there somewhere but regardless, it will be a day I will forever cherish and when he gets the bobblehead back I am certain he will immediately go back to that day and what we experienced together.
You didn't even pay for those seats?! WINNING!!

When I lived in SoCal (2014-2016), I attended a few Dodgers games (mostly vs. the Giants). I remember paying a couple hundred bucks for a pair of Giants-Dodgers tickets and sat a section or two over but many more rows up. I can only imagine how much more expensive your tickets were. Such an awesome gift from your brother-in-law.

Yeah man, in the long future, your son will be reminded of this experience. Regardless of what happens to the bobblehead (which I assume he'll keep and safeguard), he'll absolutely cherish the memory of spending quality time at the ballpark with his loving father. Such memories never fade, ever. As previously mentioned, I still remember going to the ballpark with my Dad many times (and many of the free items we obtained). But the true source of happiness for me, at that moment and when reflecting on it now, was the quality time spent with my Dad doing something we both enjoyed, nothing will ever top that.

On a side note, congratulations on your retirement too!!

I didn’t realize 16/xxx was also sought after. Good to know.

Sadly none of my Ohtani’s have any cool numbers. I have to do some pretty tortured math to get 11,16,17 or 50… does that count?!

I don't invest in cards...with that being said I wonder if Ohtani cards will have a better year than the stock market this year? I also wonder how the economy this year will affect his market. Should be interesting.

Pretty sure if 2 people had 100k to invest on Jan 1st, and 1 chose to invest in a Dow Jones index fund and the other chose a handful of Ohtani rookie year autos, pretty sure the Ohtanis would be in a much better place right now. Lol

Well, S&P is down ~13% on the year, so you would have had to bought some Shohei Panini repacks off eBay to make a worse ROI .

I don't think they (#16) particularly fetch a premium unless it's a WBC product. I'm just a nerd that tries to collect all numbers worn through his career.

I ended up selling my BGS 9.5 for 5750 before the start of the season, if that helps at all.

Went to a card show today and bought four cheap Ohtanis (and some other nonsense).

I may or may not have sold a nice Ohtani to fund those purchases (I did). I still love the unicorn but my PC on him is set in stone now slab wise and now I focus on my vintage projects + topload binder Ohtani finds in value boxes
