Yeah, we got a flash flood warning at 1238am. I didn't get much sleep. The thunder was the loudest I have ever heard it.

The deck is starting to come together finally, the framing and stairs were done last week and it passed inspection (suck it codes guy). The post holes were filled so I'll have to get out and get any remaining dirt in the grass so that it doesn't look like Bnut Gopher Hole Estates. Just dodging rain and the heat last week.

We are getting more rain and are now on a river flash flood warning. No big trees down in our neighborhood, thankfully. My nanny called at 7am saying her power was out. I reported it to the power company.

You do realize certain businesses (especially those in the medical field) don't stay open like fast food joints, grocery stores, or Walmart right? The last appointment at most of my doctor's offices is at 3PM.

Are you going to stain it or go for an all natural look?

It's National Bison Month. I wonder how that bison in Yellowstone is celebrating?

I wish I had tried a bison steak the one time they offered it for dinner on Amtrak's Empire Builder.

My wife has to get another heart monitor this morning to wear for 24 hours. And no, it was pre-ordered last week and not because she met glen last night.

We went with composite decking, I think this is the color...

I'm pretty sure we did white posts as well but I can't remember.

Fun Fact:

The highest 24 hour rainfall total in the continental U.S. was recorded in Alvin, Texas in July of 1979.

42.00 inches!

That weather station was about 15 miles from our house.
We had flooding everywhere including our house.

I was working at Target after school and most employees and many customers had to spend the night in the store because all of the streets surrounding the store were flooded bigly.
It was heavy torrential rain for hours and hours caused by a tropical storm (Claudette) that came ashore and stalled over the area.

42 inches of rain in a 24 hour period!

A. No one believes you went to school
B. Target didn't open until the 60s, so it wasn't around when you were old enough to work.

Did it flood and ruin all of the Babe Ruth cards you pulled as a kid?

Saved one of our parks staff from a vicious water snake this morning. He called not long after I got to work that there was a snake at the Japanese Garden. I got over there and it was a harmless water snake in the filter. Got it back into the pond where it can chase frogs and fish.

He gives a date of July 1979

Typical NN inability to understand *checks notes* "dates"
