Speaking of him, he dropped his car off to be inspected (which expired in May) and was going to walk back (about a mile). I told him I'd give him a ride but he said he needed the exercise. He said he tripped on the "bad" sidewalk and fell on the way back.

After which he told me that he fell yesterday mowing, his foot slipped on the "wet" grass. Twice in less than 24 hours sounds to me like you need to see a doctor and not make excuses, but I'm just a BO doctor.

Got to work yesterday and nothing was said about Mr Unhinged. An hour into the shift i finally had time to go ask my boss about it. I said I didn’t see him anywhere and the boss said oh, yeah, he’s suspended for now while we decide if we want to bring him back or not. HR called him and he knew what he did was wrong but you called him stupid (I said he was outside for a dumb reason) so that’s why he said what he said.

Later in the shift, Mr Unhinged’s sister, who also works there, said she was ready to smack one of her assistants. Her husband, who is a technician, also said he was ready to smack the assistant. So I had to move the assistant to the other side of the building.

I spoke to the assistant, who is just a seasonal employee, about what happened and she said those people had been yelling at her for a couple days. She didn’t feel comfortable telling anyone. 30 minutes later she pulled me aside to say the lady’s son, who ALSO works for us, told his mom the day before that he wanted to punch the assistant

You can’t make it up. Just a bunch of bad people emboldened by a weak HR director (don’t call her a manager, she doesn’t like that).

The seasonal assistant is the daughter of an employee on first shift. That employee is dating the maintenance manager who’s been there 20 years. So I called him when all this was going on. He said the girl had called her mom to ask what to do. I asked him to let HR and the GM know what he heard was going on because they aren’t listening to me.

He was concerned enough to call me back and ask if they should be worried and come pick her up.
