I think I'd disagree on pretty much every set, but the 2020 set looks really good in wave form. It is not quite as busy as other years or sets.

Thanks Eye! I wish it was in an orange jersey but it's a sick patch!

And are you kidding me on this game so far!!! Can't underestimate a new father.

My one and only Yordan.....................

I think I posted it in the Luis Robert thread months ago.

This just reminds me how I should have bought more cards like this in the offseason. (FFS I think I say that EVERY YEAR, on certain players)

37 is my number, so technically I’m saying under. But I hope I’m wrong!

That oppo 3-run blast shows just how strong he is. Muscled it out.

He had 21 from now until the end of the season in 2019. I'm assuming that's where you're getting that 37 number. I say he outpaces that, as a more experienced batter on two healthy knees compared to what he was then.

I think he can touch 40. Then again, I'm an optimist.

I missed both. Was chilling in a hotel on vacation with my wife and had the game on my phone but went downstairs to get some drinks. Maybe I should go back down when he comes up again lol

I’ll say 40 dingers on the year.

I didn’t specifically do that calc. I was partly drawing from his prolific ‘19, but more so I was thinking (conservatively) that we could see a 50% increase to his HR pace in the second half.

He definitely can reach 40. And yeah, the healthy knees are key. I suspect that, between his knees and missing nearly all of ‘20, it took him a couple months to fully get back into his body and comfortably attack major league pitching.

April was his spring training as well so he's a month behind everyone else in terms of game shape, on top of missing last year and the surgery, as you mentioned.

A lot of people slept on him, but I think he's fully awakened now. Unfortunate for my collecting.

Yep. The sauce is a week old (ie stale), but if he had had that game on July 1 it would have bumped him up about 10 spots. I don't think he'd get that much of a bump if I did it now because he missed a few games this week.

ETA: I saw a serious bump in his prices today, although it was just a higher day overall. I think we may be getting a little National bump before we head in to the late season lull. Then again, Astros look primed for a post season run which will give him plenty of opportunity for exposure.

I had him projected for 42 at the start of the season. With the amount of season left that would give him 21 in the future...if he plays every day. He won't, so I'll take under.

The confounder is the league effects. Someone mistakenly thought offense was down early in the season and changed the rules to favor hitters. That is going to show up as more HR league wide, which will only help Yordan.

As of this morning…

AL Ranks
HR 16 T18th
RBI 56 T8th
Runs 53 T11th
BA .308 6th
OBP .378 10th
SLG .559 5th
OPS .937 5th
OPS+ 153 6th
WAR 2.3 30th
Total Bases 147 18th

Considering he’s missed 16 games those stats are pretty freaking amazing.

His prices still seem way too low; oh well guess I’ll pick up some more.

Tuesday’s game was Alvarez’s 12th start of the season in left field, all of which have come since June 2. The Astros were careful with him in the spring and early in the season after he had surgery on both knees in the offseason, but he’s looked comfortable in left, and he said it helps him stay locked in offensively. He’s hitting .398 while playing left field and .296 at DH this year.
