Yes, the "landscape" has "changed". It hadn't yet when things went down. It's re-writing history NOW based on things that happened THEN. Don't love that.

The NCAA has let things slide for some teams and punitively punished other college teams forever though. USC feels - to me - like they got a raw deal.

So to that extent, it is a righted wrong.

Hilarious to see sports "journalists" trying to stir up drama with the upcoming playoffs by screeching "there will be rematches!!!"

lol, postseason rematches happen in literally every sports league and no one complains.

Heck, 14 Super Bowls have featured teams who already played that season. Is someone going to complain that the Bucs' 2021 Super Bowl victory is tainted, diminished, or less meaningful just because the Chiefs had beaten them in the regular season?

Rematches are only bad if they involve SEC teams or if hey happen in the 1st round.

If we take last year's regular season and apply it to this year's playoff format, 9 of 12 spots would be SEC or Big 10. So absolutely we can expect rematches in the playoffs - not to mention more frequent rematches in the CCGs with no more divisions in those 2 conferences.

I do, however, wonder if the committee will try and seed things to avoid first round rematches under the new playoff format the way they did under the old format.
