I responded the intent of my post wasn’t to create a full list of what was necessary for friendship. We were discussing can x and y be friends and now you are talking about percentage of generally shared interests. That’s not the conversation I was involved in at any point. So maybe that’s why it seems like I’m talking in riddles, because you are bringing an entirely different conversation into the one I was having. 10 pages in, crossing streams is bound to happen.

Either way, Braswell is completely out in left field with what he is saying, how he was saying it and how he views himself in the context of this thread.
Mike and I have similar, if not the same point of view - I am just not sugarcoating it, which I guess is what is upsetting you so much.

I have nothing against you, but clearly you have something against me for thinking differently.

I am not making that correlation.

You will likely get more meaningful and diverse discussions and learn new things with friends instead of acquaintances or workplace proximity associates. I keep myself fairly reserved in the workplace and with acquaintances but speak more freely with my friends whom I trust regardless of gender.

That is where our opinions diverge. I have women friends I do hang out with and know they have my back and share some common interests with me. None of us want to bed each other. This doesn't make them masculine or me fruity. People might be more willing to engage with you positively if you didn't keep stereotyping whole groups of people.

As was so eloquently put earlier /thread.

I think he's referring to the presentation of the matter. I don't really disagree with your premise but if you want people to listen to the opposing view it does matter.

Personally I don't like sugarcoating things either but sometimes that's what it takes to have a discussion.

I do think some on the other side are being a little sensitive as well. If we're going to have an adult discussion we need to realize that certain things are hard to phrase no matter how we phrase it when we talk about controversial topics like this.

I won’t sugar coat it either.

Don’t play the victim. It’s weak.

You came out firing, acted like an idiot, called people out for, ironically, the exact things you were doing on multiple occasions and try to sum it up with “you have something against me for thinking differently”.

No I don’t. I think you’re ignorant. I think you’re disingenuous. I think you’re arrogant.

Despite being the same gender. I don’t want to be your friend.

I think you are ignorant as well, so we agree on something.

You say I don’t know what I am talking about because I am young, but maybe you don’t understand what is happening in the world around you since you already have a wife and daughter.

If I am wrong, that doesn’t mean you are right. And I am not playing victim, I am perfectly fine holding my stance and taking any opposition that comes with it.

I have many people that have told me they agree with me, so if you disagree it doesn’t bother me one bit.

Actually it didn’t have to be a controversial topic, 2 choices would have sufficed yes or no. Every other response has turned this thread into a spawning ground for bad responses and name calling but I guess that’s what makes blowout fun.

Now I want to see a tri-Venn diagram showing whether the circle of Yes voters or the circle of No voters overlap more with a "has trans friends" circle.

I believe the rabbit hole on this one goes deep and once you go down it, you could lump a lot of people in each category.

You would think the Yes's would have far more overlap than the No's, but I'd like to see how it actually plays out.

(This isn't a shot at anyone. I'd genuinely be curious to see if we can extrapolate from someone holding one position to them holding a seemingly correlated position.)

For one, I already stated clearly I recognize there are many things outside of my perspective that I can still learn.

Secondly I want to know how having a wife and daughter (and 2 boys for full disclosure) would limit my ability to understand the world around me?

Thirdlyish, how does having a wife and daughter have any negative bearing on my ability to understand genders and commonality/friendships?

Fourthmost, I don’t assume you are ignorant just because you are young. That’s a disservice to many young people who are wise beyond their age. I recognize the heavy amount of ignorance you have openly displayed here (only fruity men hang out with women, etc) is at least partly attributable to your age and lack of real world experience. I’m sure there are other factors as well.

The odds of having a trans friend especially in Mississippi are pretty slim but wouldn’t it be a quad Venn diagram.

It would be like the State Farm logo but how much would the top circle intersect with the left circle vs the right circle. The left "yes" and right "no" circles touch but don't overlap. The top "trans friend" circle does overlap but by how much in each.

Lots of ruffled feathers in this thread over nothing but an opinion that many people share. Blowout Karen’s are the best

Pretty amazing a simple yes or no question can get 11 pages worth of responses.

If anyone disagrees with someone’s opinion we get the fun threads. Don’t let us down blowout. Make sure we get that 2024 thread we all want.

It’s not so much the disagreement part but the art of conversation and civil discussion seems to be lost.

People dig in on their beliefs and never see someone else’s point of view. How could they be wrong? Obviously the other person is wrong.

Yeah once the basketball crazies start pushing their real-o-meters into the red, this place is gold.
