That would be such a shame. This was a magical year. If he comes back he will absolutely ruin it. He had a half season spark of life and magic that was incredible. He gets to go into the HOF with his BFF Molina. He had his farewells everywhere he went. He hit a HR in his first at bat in St Louis, and in his last at bat in St Louis (regular season). A hit in his last postseason at bat. The dude had a legit perfect ending. I absolutely LOVE Albert Pujols, but if he comes back it will be an absolute shame.

Yesterday was a good case study in the "best approach to scoring" debate that we have had in other threads. johnlocke and the analytics guys think the best way to score is to try to hit home runs, and that strikeouts are okay. But look at what we saw yesterday.
The Rays and Indians struck out 3,500 times and only scored four runs in the entire series. Why? Because every dude on both teams is trying to hit it 500 feet. The result was virtually no scoring. Then we had the Mariners score 10 runs in game two despite hitting just one home run. The Mets scored 7 runs and only hit two solo home runs. Contact > trying to hit home runs. |

The above is a case study in not credible arguments being made from microscopic sample sizes and misinterpreting data.
And I say that despite generally being on team contact rather than team 3TO. |

This season was an unexpectedly fun last ride for Pujols, and it would be a shame to be greedy and spoil it. Not to mention he and Yadi, along with Cards fans, are set up for another nice moment five years from now when they meet again in Cooperstown. Gonna be a sea of red in that crowd. That is, if the HOF voters don't screw it up by making Yadi wait. As a Brewers fan, I'm not supposed to favor such things for a division rival team and its fans. But I'm a baseball fan first. |

How do you know they were trying to HR, Maybee they were trying for contaxt and failed. If you coach in the coach nip school of baseball you say hey when you face mclanahan, glasnow (entire rays pen), Bieber, entrire Indians pen (best in baseball). And I give you the sign to hit a double in the gap then move him over then single to bring him home make sure ti execute The face that you picked the Indians and rays of all teams to illustrate this point just shows how incredibly stupid your posts are. “Don’t be like the Indians always swinging for then fences, be more like the blue jays”. Like you can’t be serious with this #@#@#@#@ Last edited by johnlocke36; 10-09-2022 at 08:16 AM. |

Guardians have the best contact rate in. Baseball, like last or near dead last In homers and you are using them as a case study to prove your point for going for contact over homers. Lol
You are most results oriented person I’ve ever seen |

I think a big part of it is both Tampa and Cleveland are built around defense, pitching, and run prevention.

I thought Pujols confirmed retirement again in a fresh interview on the off day before the wild card series, i.e. 3 days ago

Pujols and Yadi are done. Arenado might opt out. Cardinals could look a lot different next year.
While I personally love those two as opposing players, I was disappointed in the coverage by espn last night. Phillies are celebrating a playoff win and the whole discussion is about those two retiring. After they have already covered it 40 times in 2 games. Brutal.

He’s going to have a huge adjustment with the pitch clock. Guy is incredible slow out there.

I hate what the Padres are doing if what the announcers are saying is true about stepping out constantly to disrupt Bassitt's rhythm.
