I don't understand why everyone's crying about this. Isn't this exactly what you've been asking for in terms of shaking out the flippers? I think so many of the people here wanted all the other flippers to leave while they still had the opportunity to flip product themselves. Why should Topps allow resellers to take the profits? It'll sell out.

It's very telling that so many people are complaining about how awful this while they're still buying their 2 boxes. That proves that they're not priced too high.

An unopened box will always generate a premium, because of the "hope" value. At $299 a box, it's going to be hard to get any value out of the average box. I'll buy but I'll be flipping mine to let someone else wear the risk. Will be the first year I don't collect Sapphire because it doesn't make any sense at that price.

Bought two boxes - came to $668 with taxes and overnight shipping. We'll see...

Timing and price point affects the overall value of this product. If this had come out 6-8 weeks ago when Robert was hot AND buyers in general had more money to spend on cards, this product would have moved. But spenders have tightened their wallets in the past few weeks and there aren't any hot rookies right now to drive this product (by the way, so there are now two years of sapphire RC logo cards for Tatis, Vlad, Eloy??). Can't see a huge secondary market for flipping this product...the race to the bottom will start super early. Everyone planning to flip better get next day shipping. Passing on this one...$700 better spent on something else.

Are the odds displayed on the product page anywhere? Would love to get a sense of PR.

While retaining the true Sapphire color is nice, these were way more interesting at a PR of 250 than 1,000+

Love all the crying. Good on Topps for getting a bigger cut of the profit.

This is the only downside to this pricing. I think most will be with you in the sense that they will not be willing to open knowing that there will be closer to 80-100 return on each box, thus creating less of a collector experience that (I believe) the membership was meant to build. A Slightly lower price might have enticed a lot more members to purchase to open instead of flip sealed. I'd anticipate a lot of sealed product going up for sale on this one for sure. Still, totally understand Topps approach here and totally justified for them to take their profits here on Sapphire - a product everyone has done well on and should do good on going forward.

I can't imagine a majority of this product gets ripped to start. Not at that starting price.

I get what you are saying, but what about people that wanted to buy to rip? I have never been able to buy Sapphire or Ginter X. I finally had a chance to get some this year because I am a MC member and now prices are sky high. Don't get my wrong, I understand why Topps did it. I'm just bummed at the higher price.

Got my 4 boxes (two memberships)

Will immediately rip one
Will immediately sell one
Will Immediately bury one in the back of my closet

What hapens to that 4th box likely depends on whether or not I hit anything good in my rip

Steeeeeeeeep!!!!!!
Changed my mind.

Going to keep one for my sealed product collection and sell one.

I'll sell a couple of my early "Project2020" cards that I purchased multiples of to pay for the one I will keep.

BTW, I don't blame Topps one bit.

Us collectors pushed them into a corner to raise their prices.

Hopefully they'll use some of that money to contract some really good IT people.

Unless print run has gone down a bit, sounds like a lot of boxes going direct to special distributors with no public sale other than the 1 box via raffle?

Flip one of the other 8 exclusive boxes you could've got this year from MC and you have easily enough profit to cover the cost difference of whatever you would've opened your Sapphire box at

What if I opened all of the other boxes I purchased? I like to rip. I didn't open Ben Baller though....I do have a second box coming and might open the second one.

At this price point this should have gone the way of 2018 sapphire. Should have been same assortment. Even if they would have priced it at 399.99. More cards and more auto would have been worth the rip.
