I've actually found a couple undercover high end deals in Feb, but it seems like there are a growing number of people pulling triggers for the usual suspects after an unsuccessful off-season (BCA, Heritage, etc).

I don’t play in the deep end like you ballers, but I do enjoy some low pop PJs!

The toys r us purple is very under the radar still. Nice add. Guy to the right should be alright this year too. The pricing becoming more palatable helps as well.

I'm going to stare at this and resist cracking it as long as I can. Really have had enough PSA anxiety lately.

Had a buddy ask me if $3,800 for a PSA 7 Camo #700 was too much. I told him it was too much. Did I steer him wrong?

A PSA 9 Indy did $3,850 last July and based on my experience Indy is more expensive than camo. I know Ohtani's market is up since then but its not up enough to justify paying July's PSA 9 prices for a PSA 7 today, right?

You know it's too much when the seller is telling you that grades don't matter for low # d cards. Grades always matter for pricing, even for 1/1s, whether you like it or not. Too much coin for the grade.

You just know it would be so much sexier in the Team Color - Card Color Matching Slab.

Valentine's Day was a few days ago, <3, whew, that's pretty!

Thank you! I have no doubt that I'll give into the temptation one of these days. I'll wait until my PSA queue is calm and Sho isn't the headline of every other spring training article

Even with what I know, it takes some knowledgeable members here to talk me off the edge sometimes. This is a support group in many ways

Yeah, that's the first thing I did since the bat was cutoff versus some others where it isn't. There's however more of his leg than other cards so the dimensions came back within range. I don't think it is trimmed, but even the grader's suspicion makes me a little apprehensive. Do you see any red flags? I didn't pull or grade this (obviously).

Even in a threadbare BGS slab that card looks gorgeous.

Right there with you, which is why I had my ruler and other 18 update cards ready when it arrived. I was considering a cross, which would likely fail (statistically, nothing to do with the card), to make sure it didn't get a N1 or N6. I'm sure PSA's tools are far better than mine. Not going to worry about that for a while, though.

It's sad that it's come down to this. Nothing to indicate the card was molested, but just the way the hobby is now.

You're right to be concerned. Story time:

When I bought my blue bowman paper Ohtani at a local show last weekend, I showed it to another vendor's table. The first words out of that vendors mouth? "Oh man, if you just fix this corner that's a grader." He then gestures to his partner at the same table and says "My buddy cleans cards."

Suffice to say, I didn't spend much time after that looking at their showcases full of PSA 10s.

That's awful. Definitely sending it on for a cross first if I ever decide to crack (I'm admittedly more hesitant now ).

I guess I'll cherish my PSA serial #s from 4xxxxx to 6xxxxx knowing for a fact that they were never touched by a greasy trimmer.

I feel you on that 100%. I'm very happy my PSA 9 #700 camo has a 6xxxxx serial number for this exact reason.

I fully expect a 9 or even a 10 to pop up with the new longer serial numbers though after someone takes an exacto knife to a BGS copy they crack. That'll be a sad day but I won't be surprised.

One thing BODA has showed us is that these guys will chop cards for tens of dollars.
