If Texas hadn’t beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa then I could see Bama ahead of Texas but Texas went on the road and took care of business.

Didn’t even win their conference.

They would need Michigan and FSU to lose big to even be in the discussion.

What teams were ranked at the time they played doesn’t matter. You don’t want to go down that path, otherwise Alabama looks even worse by losing at home by double digits to a team not even in the top 10.

So App State beating Michigan wasn't that impressive to you?

Texas beat the best SEC team in their stadium ! That’s a Massive difference.

Just imagine how many fans would kill each other if they weren’t announcing the playoff teams tomorrow.

Thankfully it’s a small window between the games and the announcement.

Is the first round or two a home game to the higher seed? I would assume the final four is the same format as now. So I guess, that helps a bit. Just would suck that a playoff game doesn’t actually eliminate teams in many scenarios.

You do know the Tex/OU is neutral site? Always.

For 5 weeks the committee has said H2H matters, no matter when the game is played.

If you mean that game from 15 years ago, it was very impressive to see an FCS team beat Michigan in the Big House. That aside, Michigan was not a top 10 caliber school that year despite what their ranking was prior to that game.

And Alabama just beat the defending college football champion in their second home! That's massively massive! And I don't even like Alabama or the SEC!

Once more for people in the back

Michigan (with a win)
Washington
Texas
Bama

Two undefeated conference champs at top.
Next best two teams in and seeded to acknowledge H2H results.

Not hard.

Your goal post moving game is impressive.

Texas gets in over Alabama, Alabama gets in over Georgia and Michigan gets in over Ohio State, all because of head to head.

Now realistically, I think Michigan wins and you have 4 going for 2 with Texas the most likely #3 seed because transitive. Who gets in as the #4 seed: Ohio State or Alabama (leaving Georgia due to head to head)???

The top 4 get a bye. The next 4 get a home (on campus) game. So that’s why I say seeding will be important.

Agreed. (If you think Michigan should be allowed to participate.)

I haven’t moved a single thing. An FCS school beating Michigan is impressive, no matter what they are ranked.

But have it your way…. Alabama lost at home by double digits by a team not even in the top 10. That alone puts them behind Texas.

They also just beat the defending champions on a 29 game winning steak in their second home to win their conference.

That matters.

I would not stop laughing for days if OSU got in over Alabama somehow.

It won’t happen. But you got a real chuckle out of me.

Bzzzzzzt.

Events taking place prior to August 26, 2023, are completely irrelevant to the current discussion.

Try again.

A near last play heartbreaker at a neutral site vs a home game loss by 10 points ? Seriously ?
