I hope everyone stays safe. When I worked 2nd shift, we worked with a company out of South Carolina and Georgia. They got an inch of snow and the company shut down for a week.

Last night at our annual fire house meeting, my wife was voted in as the Secretary. I truly believe she has no idea what she is in for with that.

My youngest SD and soon to be SIL were voted in as Board Members.

Since we used to have a Historian committee and they converted it to just one position and the previous guy that led the committee with me left, I volunteered to be the full time historian.

After an incident last night, I'm probably looking at a suspension from the fire house anyway. One of the members was complaining that he never gets enough votes to win an office (always blames it on being black) was complaining about it after the meeting. I made a complaint that I thought full members should be able to vote for the officer that run their fire station even if they didn't make their points the previous year because they are still members and should have a say in who runs the place. He went off on me about making it down more often, blah, blah, blah and it got into a shouting match. Dude tried to flex on me.

I basically ended the argument with the fact that I forgot only he was allowed to complain about anything down there. It's people like him why I don't go down much. That and I never get points like everyone else does for going to parades or the Santa Run. Or when I show up for drill, they do nothing.

So since my future SIL asked about it and told my SD, I'm sure the board will get involved. Ironically, my SD also had a run in with this dude earlier in the day and is expecting a complaint to.

This is was one of the crap guys that came from PG County about 2 years back who things everything should be like PG County and thinks we're all racist every time something doesn't go his way. And of course, the board is skittish about him because we still have a lawsuit against us for kicking that one black guy out who goes out of his way to tell every county Commissioner and media outlet that we are all racist which is why he was voted out and not anything to do with the consistent violations he did that put members lives at risk or damage to people's property.

My wife goes more than me. I got frustrated when the 75th Anniversary Committee I chaired went nowhere because no one wanted to get off their butt and do fundraisers to enable us to do anything. I also get frustrated getting up early, working all day, and then going to the fire house on drill nights to do my photography job and they sit around and BS and don't drill. I also have issues making points because for some reason, even though I bust my butt for photos and video at parades or the Santa Run, I'm not given the points like other members that participate.

The only reason I went to the meeting instead of resigning was that an older member talked me into staying especially since he was running for the Board. He wasn't voted in because as he said, "he's not a Yes man." I also wanted to support my wife and youngest SD.

That place has gone downhill since COVID and a bunch of new members joined. It's not a family anymore. They barely get the ambulance out. The 859 calls they ran last year was the lowest amount of calls since my middle SD joined in 2015. It wasn't because there was less calls, it was because they scratch on tons; especially ambulance.
