We have gotten quotes from several companies but none have offered the back up battery storage which i find odd. They all funnel it back into the grid. I would go completely off grid if I could. I want a little self suffient cabin in the woods.

Any thoughts on what you are getting the Mrs this year? I am sure a new charm is in store.
Forgot to mention, if you do get solar, make sure you take into account where on the outside of the house they put the equipment to run it. I still haven't gotten a quote to move my propane tank which means no fireplace this winter probably.

I'm trying to plan out my trip to Buffalo/Lancaster, NY for the big fire truck Christmas Parade on Thanksgiving weekend. I'm meeting my friend from PA there that came with me to VT/NH/ME. I have 6 fire departments to write to try and set up some photography visits on Friday. If everything works out, I should be photographing 7 new Pierce Ascendant Tower and an older snorkel. I may try and leave Thursday night after Thanksgiving dinner and maybe get a hotel in Altoona. 8 hours is to far a drive Friday considering we need to start at fire stations around 9AM.

Getting a hotel is a smart move especially thanksgiving weekend. This thanksgiving will be a somber one as we are going to my wife’s sisters but not many people are coming. It’s probably her son’s last thanksgiving as his cancer came back and there is nothing the doctors can do this time. I don’t know if I could be as positive as he is if I were only given less than a year to live.

He’s more than welcome to visit. He can report back to others on this thread on how Mississippi is. I am actually glad I moved here it is very laid back and as I get older that is a lifestyle I am happy with.

This is my sister in law who I like and respect. It’s a shame my real sister has become somebody I don’t like and have no respect for. Too toxic and spends too much time worrying about politics. I feel bad for her as she has 2 autistic daughters and I don’t think I would wish that on anyone but I try to remember her when she was younger and a lot more pleasant. I turned down the family get together at Disney this year because me and my wife want to visit my mother and my stepmother and stepsisters so our money will be saved for that trip.

That's good, at least you won't have that happening on top of everything else.

Sorry to hear about your nephew, Spuds. I hope he gets to do a couple things he has always wanted to do.

You got that right, when she started up the last family get together I just left the house and went for a ride. I am glad she still lives in New York so avoiding her is pretty easy as she has never visited Mississippi although I always extend an open invite.

Thank you. I feel bad as he has an 11 year old son who will be affected. He is who I give a lot of Sportscards to as he has taken an interest in them.

I remember when I was younger in my late teens early 20’s we would stay out all night until the sun came up. I need to do that a few more times as it was awesome. I think most of us in this thread are pretty hospitable and even though we disagree at times I think we could all have a good time hanging out together.
