Those 50/50 chromes are nice cards - esp that blue #50. For the flack this set gets, I do feel like it is a great singles/set collector's adventure. I don't have the juice right now to do a full serial # set (it's deal season!), but I'll probably try to put together a base refractor set.

Nice pick up on the Gold PSA8. That went for way less than I thought it would. Even as PSA8 I thought it would hit a $1000 or more!

Biggest and boldest move in 2024 for me was to consolidate the following cards :

2018 Topps Heritage Black Border Shohei Ohtani #600 SGC 10
2018 Topps Update Black Shohei Ohtani #US285 PSA 9
2018 Topps Heritage ROA Shohei Ohtani BGS 9.5
2018 Topps Update 1983 Shohei Ohtani Red Auto PSA 9

I really wish I could have kept them all but this was the only way I could fund the purchase through consolidation.

I did receive some good news recently from SGC that they are willing to grade (PSA would not due to it being an error card /25) so my plan for 2025 is to drop this off at their booth at one of the local shows here in SoCal. To get this slabbed and protected is my primary objective this coming year. Second to that, I must find a way to fund the acquisition of either a rookie BCA (any will do) or ROA through consolidation.

I was prepared to spend a lot more and was pleasantly surprised to see it go for well under my high bid. It's not yet in my hands so don't want to count my chickens before they hatch. So long as it makes its way to me I'll be happy to have my foot in the door with an 8 and see if I can move up to a higher grade later.

Anyone on here buy the 2018 Shohei Ohtani Diamond Icons Red Ink /25 Auto PSA 10 Angels that ended on Ebay yesterday? I had never seen that card before and it looked awesome with a great auto.

Likely shilled when there's a copy for 10K obo just sitting there. Along with the many bid cancellations and zero FB bidders. Nevermind the 24hr auction for a 97% feedback seller.

I didn't follow the auction closely. Just thought it was a good looking card! Why does a card like that not get the same type of love as the bowman chrome hitting auto #BCRASO?

Not 1 week after PSA informed me they wouldn't slab due to the /25 red not being on Topps' official checklist, the TOPPS "X" account posts these 2 images along with the following caption on Sep 22 this year: "Rare photos of Shohei Ohtani signing his rookie cards in 2018…"




I mean, come on man, look at that stack of red TC sitting there waiting to be signed - sure looks like about 30 to me (not 5!).

This just popped for me. Somehow I had the luck of pulling an /10 from the Topps Now World Series Champions Set. Have no clue what the print run of that set is but odds probably had to be tough.

Officially now a PSA 10

Beautiful card! I picked up some 2018 TCA myself but not as high as the (error) Red. Really nice looking though.

I also have a big Shohei coming for me, from a fellow member, but it won’t come here before the new year. I’ll make sure and post a pic when I get it in hand.
