Trueblue....have you ever calculated the print runs on your Ohtani 2018 base RC cards? Seems like there are way more BC and TC than every other topps brand.

Bowman Chrome is by the far the least. It did not have a retail format and HTA was auto-only starting that year. The only way to pull one is hobby. That said, still overrated for a card with a PR in the five figures.

Flagship 700 and Heritage 600 are the highest PR just because of retail and flagship complete sets. TC is a six figure print run because of all the retail formats. The only packpulled widely available (no sapphire, icons, etc) "base" that has some degree of scarcity AND (keyword) desirability is A&G X off the top of my head.

Sorry...I totally messed up my question! What I meant was your 2018 RC auto cards!!! Since I am a low and mid end collector I have never really thought about the PR on 2018 Ohtani RC autograph cards. When I look at sales seems like BC, TC, and Heritage have the most auto RC for sale. The other topps brands seem to have a lot less especially base auto RC cards.

I was having a hard time comping the current value of on card RC autos due to most sales being before 50/50 and the WS win. I also decided to look at the PSA pops and noticed low pops for a lot of base auto RC cards.

I may have pulled the trigger on a raw RC auto yesterday (a lower end topps brand) and if I ever get it in hand I will post to get your opinion on what I should do with it in terms of grading.

You can pretty accurately normalize for any peak period buying by extrapolating sales from other autos. In some cases like Heritage, the values have kept climbing since 40/40 and 50.50.

Sho was SP was for TC so the base PR is probably in the neighborhood of purple - so a few hundred? I would definitely buy a base over purple - aesthetically superior with likely a similar PR despite no serial #. That said, the base is the toughest to grade due to the light chrome colors corners - much easier to hide blemishes with darker colors.

Can't wait to see your RC Auto if/when you get it in man! Would be a big day for your collection for sure. I'm personally pulling for you to have pulled the trigger on an Archives Fan Favorites auto as that's what I got and I think it fits your collecting style of low PR oddball but cool cards.

FWIW, I had a similar dilemma earlier this year with which Topps Chrome auto color to go for. I thought a nice green was a nice compromise as far as value and still with a low serial print run. If I’m going to spend the money it would cost for the base auto… I thought I’d rather get the serial number for the similar cost. Plus as someone said earlier, it does have a Christmas feel… which is awesome

Will keep you updated! I am somewhat worried about the card as it was sold through Ebay without authentication for a price that seems to be too good to be true. My fingers are crossed that it works out for me!!!

Here it is everyone....my first (and likely last) Ohtani RC auto. Just got it in the mail. I took a few photos before I broke the seal. I bought it from Ebay, but it did not go through the authentication process. It looks completely legit to me and I compared it to others online and to my own base card. Didn't even realize the auto is a different card from the base and has gray front.

If anyone has any concerns about the card being authentic...now is the time to tell me.

Certain words will throw off the authentication process. "Lot". "Redemption". I think even the word "Sealed" can do it sometimes. "Pack fresh" is another one I've seen.
