We didn't go to practice last night in the 106 degree heat. The school cancelled all after school outdoor activities, but baseball practice for little league was still on. That's not why we didn't go though. My Son had a sore throat when I got home and he just wasn't felling up to going. Later last night, he wakes us up having vomited in his bed. So, now the sick circle is complete in the house.

My buyer is questioning why I spent an extra $146 of the Government's money by going with another company's quote instead of the cheapest. She/He (name could go either way) rejected my purchase order last night and I asked our PMO about it. The cheaper place had a 60 day turn around time on shipping the printer drum kits we needed compared to a 5 day turn around from the vendor I choose. I put this in an e-mail at the time to our buyer which she/he can't find. Our access to corporate e-mail is down right now, but the PMO decided to send the purchase order through anyway.

You mean nothing to him and don't have any power over him. He'll continue to ignore.

He then tells me he spent it all and that David the host of the show is "straight as an arrow" so he MIGHT be a TAD homophobic.
Didn't get a word in edgewise because he's a talker.
Anyway here is the episode, I found this this morning.

Is winning $1 million life changing money? I mean, it would be nice, but after taxes it wouldn't buy a nice house here with anything left.

The county is breaking ground on a amphitheater right next to our office in downtown to host outdoor concerts. They plan to charge admission to these concerts, which made me ask "what if people just stand outside on the public sidewalk? I was told they will "deal with that when it happens" because "the shows aren't free". Not sure what they can do if somebody is in a public space. Heck, they said they can't do anything about the homeless on Main Street because they are "in a public area and not doing anything illegal".

So, once these shows start, if they tell people they can't be on the public areas of downtown listening for free, it's going to be a mess.

After taxes, $1 million here is $690,000. That is far from life changing money at least to me. I guess technically I could buy a house at the lake, but there wouldn't be anything left to do anything with.

They must not have heard about the Supreme Court ruling in June.

It's $1 million annuitized over 20 years. $50k a year.
Lump sum payment is $650K before taxes. About $450K after taxes.

So having $450K in cash would be life changing for probably 1/2 the country. How long that life changed for is another.

Drop me $450K right now would allow my wife to retire.

I would still work until 65 for insurance coverage. If not for insurance I would be able to retire as well.

50K a year is still go to work daily money.

If I got $450k dropped in my lap right now, first thing I'm doing is buying as many of the run-down, falling apart rental house in this town as I can and bulldozing them. Lowing property values and the tax base, but people don't understand how that is related around here.
