Watched Yule Log today. It was okay… a bit uneven. Loved the first few minutes but then the almost 20 minutes of the couple bickering in the scene afterwards was a bit of a slog.
When the other group of people came into the picture via the “double-booked AirBNB”-thing recently seen in Barbarian, I thought the movie picked up again. It was basically pretty solid the rest of the way. Acting was pretty horrible in this. I thought the elevator guy and the mother were strong but the rest of the cast was pretty horrible. Good enough but a step back from Too Many Cooks. |

Has anyone seen "Prey for the Devil"? Just looking for some input before wasting my money.

It was nothing but super loud and obnoxious arguing over music opinions and none of it made the characters likable.

Finally watched Barbarian. It was entertaining and had some good-enough twists.

The novel, written in Swedish, was obviously a solid concept. The original Swedish movie and American remake of it were both excellent, and the TV series has nicely expanded on the idea. Even so, the series hasn't been renewed for Season 2, as of today. I hope it gets the pickup.

Just got done watching "Christmas Bloody Christmas", not worth the money I spent to watch it. First half of the movie is loud and obnoxious, it gets better or at least more entertaining but I wouldn't call the movie good or even decent.

Watched "Prey for the Devil" and "Where is Rose?" over the last few days. I thought that Prey was a decent enough movie. Nothing to write home about, and the twist was as predictable as a clock, but it found it entertaining. Unfortunately I don't really have anything positive to say about Rose.
![]() I started watching "The Rig" series on Prime but I fell asleep (it was late) during the first episode. Anyone else watching this? Last edited by marl1220; 01-08-2023 at 03:18 PM. |

Went and saw M3gan this weekend. Not bad. Fairly entertaining, although I think they could have ramped it up a bit. Definitely feels like there will be a sequel. 6.5/10.
Big year for horror movies based on the previews I saw in the theater. Fear comes out this month which looks like it could be good. Scream 6 in March. Knock at the Cabin in February. Renfield with Nicolas Cage as Dracula and a ton other movies as well. Plus Servant on Apple TV comes back this weekend for its final season. Gonna be a good year. |

I think this is what they were going for. I always told my friends, I would love to see a trailer with nothing but an overhead view of a cornfield, etc and nothing more and that right there would get me to watch it. It's such a brilliant idea. It could be terriblle but I don't care.....the little the better. I'm horrified but intrigued |

Watched Skinamarink, while there are people who will enjoy this film I doubt they hang out on the BO forums.
It felt like a microbudget student film of a concussed child's nightmare. It could have been a good short, but the entire film felt like filler and ran about 90 minutes too long. This is ALL vibes, if you watch the first twenty minutes and you aren't into it, you're not going to get into it. There were eight people total in the theater and four of them left about an hour in (didn't blame them). It might be better appreciated by those with childhood trauma or who remember what it's like to be afraid of the dark. I just checked out the trailer, you could just watch it 50 times in a row and it would be similar to watching the actual film. |

Yup, she went to work in that one.
We just saw "Sick" on Peacock+. It's from the writer of "Scream" and similar to that one. The hook is that it's set right at the start of the pandemic, which plays into the plot. Two college-age women quarantine at a secluded lake house only to be stalked by a Ghostface-like killer. It's got some good jumps in it, a fair amount of gore, and clocks in at a quick 80 minutes or so.

One episode deep into "The Last of Us". It's just one episode but I all ready dislike the young female lead. It reminds me of the feeling that I got from the "Resident Evil" show on Netflix. Hopefully I will change my outlook in future episodes.
