Silver is going to take time since it is 5 months before NBA season starts so I think Ja by then would of been educated by Nike, Powerade, NBA player associations and his mentors. Ja needs to stop enjoying 420.

That idea would have held water if not for the sabbatical that Kyrie took during the Nets season in '21; where he was paid and decided not to play. No punishment or fine given. Or perhaps even earlier when the Bucks decided not to play an NBA playoff game and the league said no problem.

I don't think Silver will drag this out but I also don't think he will come down hard.

One refused to play due to a justified police shooting of an armed man, the other was willing to play but wasn’t allowed because of his medial choice. Completely different situations imo. I’m seeing kyrie did take off for other reasons. Yeah basically refusing to play.

Some of these weed takes are wild. Anyone whose seen someone who it just doesn’t agree with for one reason or another knows. Don’t know if Ja is one of those people, but to think it couldn’t be possible is a bad take. Some people’s brain chemistry fits with marijuana like a lock and key, some it acts like a sledgehammer to a brick wall. It’s not unlike any other psychoactive substance, whether man made or naturally occurring.

It's not unheard of for young people to be shortsighted and foolish. Modern social media makes it easier than ever for a person to instantly tarnish their reputation. The posts about weed do seem off base but I think you hit the nail on the head with the point about alcohol use.

Give an immature kid (who already thinks he is invincible) tens or hundreds of millions of dollars along with the keys to the city and you think he isn't going to party and want to show off? Add the hip hop culture that glorifies the bad boy inage and you have a recipe for exactly what we are seeing right now. He doesn't have self control and it hadn't hurt him too much to date in obtaining wealth, fame and adoration... so where exactly was he going to learn his lesson if he did not encounter some type of adversity?

I don't know that he is necessarily. If a person is a problem drinker and consistently puts themselves in bad situations, it opens the door for bad things to happen. Doesn't mean they always will but the likelihood substantially increases. Had anyone with any sense been present, they'd have not let that IG live happen in the first place.

I would put it this way: Ja is remarkably talented to the point where he doesn't have to put in major effort to maintain himself. He relies on pure athleticism and his youthful energy. He put in a lot of work to reach a certain level and then started more or less coasting. If he dropped the party lifestyle and focused on the game he could be unstoppable but at this point the allure of his celebrity and living the high life is clouding his judgement. Maybe his image getting tarnished will be the best thing to happen to him since coming into the league.

What is the alternative, that Ja just doesn't give a **** and he's the only one in the league who is like that and won't stop screwing around until his entire life is toast

In that sense he is an outlier. Don't know what the standard is to determine what social media conduct is worthy of a suspension but I'm sure there's been plenty of piss poor behavior on there on that time span.

Personally I know enough about a person's character if they even visit strip clubs to begin with so I think the league is already in the realm of hypocrisy for coming down on Morant exclusively for "conduct detrimental to the league" but that's a whole other debate which doesn't address his issues anyway. It's his employer's right to manage their own affairs so it is what it is but their image is already anything but a shining example for kids.
