2023 logofractor red psa 9. My favorite "flagship" ohtani image.

One reason I'm convinced this is nonsense is that isn't really a $900 card I just put in an overbid because I really wanted it. There was zero interested above $450 other than me and mr. 6 feedback.

Jersey number BCRASO blue 10 went for $45.6. I was going to bid again but the auto was streaky. I just can't no matter what the serial # for $50K+.

I opened so much '87 Topps I was sick of it early. I never got tired of '87 or '88 Fleer though. Loved '88 Score too.

In fact, going through my collecting years Topps comes up short often.

1981 - Topps was king.
1982 - Topps still on top.
1983 - Still Topps.
1984 - All Donruss.
1985 - Fleer #1, Donruss #2.
1986 - Donruss.
1987 - Fleer.
1988 - Score, Fleer, Topps, Donruss.
1989 - Upper Deck, Fleer, Topps - Donruss and Score sucked this year.
1990 - Leaf, the rest is trash.
1991 - Fleer Ultra and Stadium Club stick out in my mind.
1992 - Fleer Ultra and Bowman, Pinnacle was kinda cool too.
1993 - Not Topps.
1994 - Not Topps.
1995 - Not Topps.

Great card. 8.5 would probably score a 9 if resubmitted if it's PSA. Congrats!

Been there. I've placed bids I thought would guarantee me the card. Mr. 6 doesn't look much like a shill, unless shillers are getting more clever and bidding on non-sports cards stuff now. Usually I just assume all Shillstein and other large consigners auctions are gonna get shilled.

You just ran through my entire mid-childhood!

I was 6 in 1985 when I started collecting. Brett Saberhagen was the man, though I was a big George Brett fan and Pete Rose was a thing as well.

1986, Gooden and Strawberry were the bees knees.

But it was 1987 when baseball card collecting took over my life. It was Eric Davis and no one else mattered. Sure I collected McGwire, Canseco, Joyner and company but it was Eric Davis.

1988, Jeffries was huge but it was still Eric Davis.

1989, Griffey burst on the scene but still Eric Davis.

1990, I saw a guy in Atlanta with a sweet left handed swing. David Justice finally took thr mantle from Eric the Red for me, though there would never be a player as special to me as #44. Wanted any and every 1990 Leaf card I could get.

1991, I was all about Stadium Club. I can still smell those packs on demand today. Though to be frank, I can still identify the smell of dozens of different years/makes today. Nothing smelled like Stadium Club, though 1989 Upper Deck and 1987 Topps are still burned into my brain.

1991, 1992 - I got into putting a 1986 Fleer basketball set together and finished it when I was 12. Took selling a lot of nice cards I'd accumulated, including an 82 Topps Traded Ripken. That one hurt.

In 1993 I began to lose interest, and sold most everything that had value to open up a brokerage account with $3k and subsequently turned that into over $20k in 1996. Then life took a turn that doesn't quite apply to a baseball card forum.

Good times!

I too had a thing for Eric Davis. I still sometimes grab random Davis autos on ebay. When the mid 90's hit I had to start adulting and the production of so many different sets just got nauseating so I stepped away from collecting.

That is very cheap. I won a cheap auction of another Dodger great last night too, but I’ll share that in another thread.

The purple /299 also seemed to go for a good price...but I don't really follow that card.

Another question. Would you rather have the rookie bowman pitching auto in a bgs 9/10 or a rookie bowman pitching gold 1/50 in a bgs 9.5?

Hard to go wrong with either, IMO, but I would put the auto ahead of gold (unless the auto was terrible).

Yes it did. I bought one of those back in the summer for $600 and sold it a few weeks ago for $1100. Would have guessed it would have auctioned for at least $1000

There’s the TC Purple Auto PSA 9 ending tonight that’s going for less than the TC Base Auto PSA 9 that’s ending shortly after. The indifference to the actual numbered Purple is something I’ve noticed and a possible “inefficiency” to exploit if someone is looking. To me I’d rather have a numbered Sho than a non numbered Sho.

I favor the auto vs non-auto but the gold non-auto is tempting. Depends on how strong the 10 auto is. BGS can be iffy with the 10 auto. If the auto is strong, I’d prob still lean auto

One thing I've learned is that a lot of people just hate Purple refractors. I made the mistake on a few prospects of picking them up and they were always much harder to sell than true refractors or blues.
