Very surprised the re-enactor didn't drop an N-bomb when making introductions. I thought these time-travelers would go full shock.

I really hope I'm not going to be asked to root for the daughter. She's done nothing but be an awful person.

Things are starting to go off the rails and, honestly, I'm rooting for the Pilgrims.

Watched Pilgrim and Smile last night. Both were better than Barbarian or Nope, but I'm still not in love with any of the recent new movies.

Watched Smile and was really disappointed. It was a snooze fest for me until the last 10% or so of the movie. Wish more of the movie was more like the ending.

Pearl, Men, and Terrifier 2 delivered the most and will probably be the best remembered horror films of 2022, but man, I'm glad there are so many overall winners, including Orphan First Kill, the new Hellraiser, and Bodies Bodies Bodies. I saw Smile at the movies and liked it. I was also happy with Halloween Ends. I still need to see "Piggy".

Watching The Retaliators right now.

I'm 95% certain it's going to turn into a gory low-budget flick, but right now it feels like a God's Not Dead film.

I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. And the gore never really flowed like I thought it would.

Marc Menchaca plays a great low-budget American Ewan McGregor.

Smile was a disappointment. Pretty dumb, and worse, it totally ripped off It Follows which is by far the better movie.

Did you watch Soft & Quiet? Most f'd up pie scene since 1999. If you do watch it, go in blind.

This post is mostly just a reminder to myself that a buddy of mine has been telling me to watch Barbarian 2 just about every day, so I probably should do that.

What is Barbarian 2? I've watched Barbarian on HBO Max, but tried Google searching Barbarian 2 and nothing comes up in the horror genre.

Per Google… “Will there be a Barbarian 2?

To disappoint you, the answer is no.”

So for now the dude’s “friend” is messing with him.

Just started Cabinet of Curiosities.

Episode 1: Lot 36 - It was rather predictable and boring IMHO. Great acting, great sets, locations, etc, but overall rather boring story IMHO. The setup dealt with a desperate man, which seems to be a common trope.

Episode 2: Graveyard Rats - Now this was much better. Again, dealing with a desperate man, who will go to lengths others may shun from, but due to his situation is thrust into his own personal fears and must endure things he couldn't have imagined coming his way, nor does the viewer. The whole thing reminded me of a story from an old 1950's EC horror comic. I thought it was great for what it was.

Those are the only two I've seen so far, looking forward to the episode with Crispen Glover in it as I've only heard very good things about it.

Del Toro may not hit with each punch, but when he does, it feels good.

This post is just a reminder that Barbarian 2 does not exist. Only Barbarian. And that's the movie I'm supposed to watch, according to previously mentioned buddy.

I still haven't watched it yet.

The teaser trailer for Scream VI just dropped. Pretty damn cool. I hope it’s good because I didn’t much care for Scream (2022).

Watched Black Phone last night. Had a supernatural element to it that made it dumb as hell. Potential in the premise for sure.

I'll watch that for sure, thanks.

The "Adult Swim Yule Log", which originally aired on Adult Swim last Sunday night after the season finale of "Rick and Morty" is currently streaming on HBOMax, and is worth a look.

It begins as one of those static-camera shots of a crackling fireplace but eventually becomes a full-length horror movie.
It's a clever concept with some savage kills.

I tuned in half way through I think (just after the person in the shower scene) and though its not some cinematic masterpiece I watched the rest of the movie and I was entertained. Its a bit silly, but in a good way.

I’ll have to check it out. The director (Caspar Kelly) did Too Many Cooks which I liked a lot way back when.
