The Transcendent surfaces are universally scratched. Well, not really scratched. But the material they use gives that appearance. The rest of the card is an easy grade. Centering is good, metal borders are usually clean, and I don't know how you can get anything but a 10 on corners.

Such a sick card. Surely now it's worth way more than the sale that was made on here a few months ago. The guy put it up for 25k OBO on Ebay but then took it down within hours so it's safe to assume it was ~20k

Haha! Well, many (nearly all?) folks and I remember @khal and me discussing that in the early days

Took quite a while to sell the product and most cards wouldn’t move and sold for huge discount for 1+ year after

No we didn’t!

I hit my base and was happy to see it was selling for $75. I legit thought it was maybe a $25 card. The reds were real nice and I bought a Buehler for under $100. Can’t tell you why I passed on the Acuna. What a mistake.

Haha! I think we are actually agreeing... to your point I think we all assumed they were $25 cards, and even until this time last year they sold at a discount to the base bats down... I can’t quite remember what the tipping point was (maybe spring training?) when Acuna sapphire base exceeded bats down.

People used to throw in free Sapphire (including multiple supers and reds) with my purchases of other players. Kind of funny looking back at it... I bought no boxes nor singles (except my Ted Devers auto), but have quite a pile of them

Sapphire really took off in November/December. I bought my second copy on Xmas night for $300, and that was a steal at the time. They opened under $100 and moved above $100 in the first 2 weeks.

There were two reds listed early. And I think that’s it. By time Sapphire took off, there weren’t any red available anymore.
