The crazy thing is he doesn't have a lot of "big name" players.

And he's been able to pick up the best mediocre pitchers off of the FA

Bucholz? Chacin? Anibal Sanchez? Pivetta? Leake? Ryu?

Give me a break...

Default Trade Deadline

Hey, guys. I’m looking to package Strop, Lopez, and Almora for mid-tier starting pitching. Would that interest anyone?

I'm shopping one of Brandon Nimmo, Adam Jones, Jose Peraza, Max Muncy for a SP upgrade. Willing to combo one of those hitters with either Ryan Borucki, Jaime Barria, Trevor Richards for a pitcher.

Just trying to find one more consistent arm for down the stretch, guys keep getting banged up for me.

If the player I'm getting back is good enough, I'm willing to talk about dealing Foltynewicz as well

Anybody want to do some power rankings?

Or anything that will spur conversation? Best/worst trade this season? Best FA pickup this season? What's the direction your moving with your team?

I for one change my team name, I fancy you'll like it

I got worst trade locked down pretty well. JD and Keller for Luis Castillo and Robles.... Think I've made a few pretty good ones too, though. Stripling for Bieber and Gonsalves has worked out pretty well so far, as has Manaea, Gohara, and Wade Davis for Bauer, Keller, and Whitley

Still willing to make a last second trade, but I'm not going to trade guys for pennies on the dollar just for the sake of trading. Mikolas, Rich Hill, Hader, Darvish, David Peralta, Travis Shaw, Donaldson, Smoak are all available among others for the right offer. Mainly looking for younger guys with upside that are already in the MLB, but I'll take prospects too.

I was thinking about this the other day, what's the best fantasy team you could put together of players you have ever owned in this league? Let's say current players, so you get current 38 y.o. Pujols, not prime Pujols. This is going to make me really sad, but let's do it. Asterisks next to the guys no longer on my team-

C- Gary Sanchez
1B- Anthony Rizzo*
2B- Brian Dozier
3B- Jose Ramirez
SS- Trea Turner
OF- Mookie Betts*
OF- JD Martinez*
OF- Giancarlo Stanton
Util- Charlie Blackmon*
Util- Paul Goldschmidt*

Brantley*, Khris*, Yelich*, Blackmon*, Marte*

SP x5- Chris Sale*, Gerrit Cole*, Blake Snell*, Trevor Bauer, Madison Bumgarner
P x3- Jose Berrios, Kyle Gibson*, Sean Manaea*
RP x2- Cody Allen*, Wade Davis*

Honorable mentions go to Michael Brantley, Christian Yelich, Eddie Rosario, and Khris Davis

I know it doesn't work out like that, but it is painful to see some of the guys that I had and later shipped off

Someone should post the standings with who’s officially in/out and who can make a push into the playoffs

My team would be stupid good. Trout, Harper and Correa weren’t cheap

Basically add Bumgarner, Strasburg, Scherzer and Stanton to my current team.

Outside of the fantasy world, I got invited to write for Puckett's Pond, the Twins news site within Fansided! I've been doing some Twins articles on Reddit lately and the editor of the site saw my stuff and wanted to bring me aboard. Not paid or anything, and this'll be purely a side gig, but I'm looking forward to getting started! Will be cool to see my work published out there

Okay, so my player pool for potential trades has increased to Almora, Lopez, Strop, Moreland, Thames, Schoop. Just realized I have too many 1B and 2B lol.

I also will talk about Seager and Devers, but the price will be higher...obviously.

Man last week I couldn't buy any offense this week I threw SIX pitchers today and managed 32 points. So my six pitchers were the equivalent of Aaron Nola's start.

What a joke...

Hope my team can find a balance before the playoffs.

I'm shocked that Jacfire literally didn't do anything as far as trades go considering where his team is at right now.

Everyone wants pitching (including myself) and I have no pitching to give as I don't have many starters but also don't want to trade quality for quantity at that position.

Didn't make any deadline deals this year, but I think overall it was a successful season of trades for me. Here's a recap-

JD Martinez, Mitch Keller for Luis Castillo, Victor Robles- Well, #*&%ed that one up pretty bad. Not only did Castillo turn out to be nowhere remotely close to what he did last year, but I think Robles had that terrible injury that kept him out for months within a week of me accepting that trade. There's really not much to be excited about here. The only ok thing about it is that I can afford to sit on Castillo and see if he gets his 2017 stuff back. But yeah, this one was pretty bad

Sean Manaea, Luiz Gohara, Wade Davis for Trevor Bauer, Mitch Keller, Forrest Whitley- Pretty happy with this one! Manaea has been pretty good, but Bauer was having a Cy season before getting hurt this past week (of course). Davis wasn't a big deal to my team since I was never going to do anything this year anyways, and while Manaea has been good, Bauer has been even better. Not to mention I was able to get 2 top pitching prospects, debatable the top 2 pitching prospects in the game. This one's looking like a good one for me. Maybe it helps make up for my terrible Martinez trade...

Zack Godley, Brandon Nimmo for Mitch Haniger- This is another one I'm content with. Nimmo has had some good time in the bigs, but has been streaky. Godley's a solid depth arm, but Haniger has been a top 20ish OF for most of the season. He can be a little bit frustrating as he'll be crazy hot one month and super cold the next, but in the end it all balances out. I was looking for a bit of help in my OF, and Haniger definitely fills that want

Keone Kela for Tanner Roark- TBH I don't know what type of pitcher Roark is anymore, but Kela was another guy that wasn't going to help me much since I wasn't competing. Roark has sucked at times, but he's been really good at others. He's at least someone I can keep at the back of my rotation, which was a big need all season long

Eloy Jimenez, Nick Senzel, Matt Chapman, Kyle Wright for Giancarlo Stanton, Tyler Mahle, Matt Manning- It was finally time to cash in on some of my top prospects. I really do think Eloy's going to be a stud, but he's probably Stanton at the absolute best case. I think Senzel will be a quality player as well, but he's building up a bit of an injury concern, and I had a ton of other 3Bs on the depth chart ahead of him, including one of the top hitters in the league in JoRam, and the top 3B prospect overall in Vlad Jr, so Senzel was expendable. Same deal with Chapman, I think he'll be solid, but I had no place for him really. Stanton was a nice get, will definitely lock down another one of my OF slots long term. I've put together a pretty formidable offense long term, really looking forward to it! Mahle was a bit of a lottery ticket grab for me, not really knowing if he'd work out or not. He's been whatever, but he's another guy I can afford to wait and see on. Manning was another stash for my hoard of pitching prospects. Have been trying to accumulate a number of top 50ish overall pitching prospects. I figure some will work out, at least. So we'll see on him. Overall, this was an expensive trade, but one I think that will work out well. Jimenez's rough best case scenario is Stanton, no room on my squad for Senzel and Chapman with the other 3Bs I had, and while Wright should be solid, he helped get a deal done

Ross Stripling for Shane Bieber, Stephen Gonsalves- I'm realllllly happy with this one too. I didn't at all foresee Strip going to the DL shortly after this was accepted, nor him randomly being sent to the bullpen recently, nor being sent to the DL once again. I really did think he would continue to be a nice SP asset. I need some quality and depth, and Bieber and Gonsalves should be perfect for that. Both are looking like they'll be quality pitchers now or very soon, and both provide some much needed pitching depth as well

Scott Kingery for Fernando Romero- A bit early to tell how this one will work out, but I'm happy taking the chance on Romero over Kingery. I have a pretty solid infield so don't have a strong need for King, and Romero has flashed borderline ace stuff during some of his time in the bigs. I do think Kingery will be better than he's shown this year, but I'm happy to take on Romero instead

Robinson Cano for Dylan Bundy- Bundy's not a fantastic pitcher, but he's a solid depth option. I do think Cano has a few quality years left, but I didn't need him in my long term infield as well, so changing him into a solid depth pitcher was big for my team for sure

The biggest thing for me this season was adding some more pitching. I came into the season with a rotation of Berrios, Bumgarner, Manaea, Godley, Fulmer, Musgrove, and Gohara. Certainly not a bad start, but I needed a lot of work both in terms of quality and quantity. Now after the deadline, I'm sitting with a staff of Berrios, Bumgarner, Bauer, Roark, Bieber, Musgrove, Bundy, Castillo, Fulmer, Mahle, Harvey, plus some help in the pipeline with Whitley, Keller, Romero, Gonsalves, and a few other mid tier pitching prospects as well. I would have loved to have added one more top 30ish arm before the deadline, but there wasn't a big rush since I'm obviously not going anywhere this season

I think I've done a pretty good job setting myself up for the future. My offense currently features JoRam, Stanton, Sanchez, Trea, Dozier, a solid supporting cast, and a couple of high end prospects including Vlad Jr, Rodgers, Robles, and Royce Lewis. In terms of pitching, I've gone from just a few quality guys to having Berrios, Bum, and Bauer leading the charge with Bieber, Roark, Musgrove, Bundy, Harvey, and Fulmer giving me some decent depth, plus some good guys for the future including Keller, Whitley, Gonsalves, Romero, and more

The future is bright! I'm really looking forward to next season, I think with another good move or two in the offseason I could be a surprise playoff team. Can't wait!

I only made 3 trades this season, but I like what I did.

Traded away: Giancarlo Stanton, Charlie Morton, Jose Quintana, Daniel Murphy, Tyler Mahle, Matt Manning

Acquired: Eloy Jimenez, Josh Hader, Matt Chapman, Nick Senzel, Dylan Cease, Triston McKenzie, AJ Puk, Casey Mize

My team was really good for a long time, but it had run its course. Heading into this season, I knew I had no chance of winning a championship this season because there are so many good teams in this league and my team was gradually aging and becoming worse by the year. So I decided to take a step back and retool. The only guy that really hurt letting go of was Stanton, but I feel that I got more than enough in return to make it worth it.

I infused a boatload of young talent to my squad without completely blowing everything up. Chapman has been amazing since I acquired him, Hader is one of the top relievers in the league, and I'll be able to plug in Jimenez, Senzel, Cease, and maybe others into my team as early as next year. I really like my chances to get back into the playoffs next season.

Pretty content with the trades I've made as well regarding the future and a push for this seasons playoffs.

Castellanos for Taillon: I like Castellanos a lot and I think this could go either way depending on the teams need (SP or Position Player) quality pitching costs, that's a fact. And Taillon is a young pitcher (27) that is very consistent. Can't ask for much more than that. And Castellanos unfortunately plays on a very poor offensive Tigers team.

Corey Knebel & Jake Lamb for Nomar Mazara: I think this is one that ultimately will favor Jake but for now Mazara fills my void left by Castellanos, while I think Mazara is a limited upside player I like his consistency as well. Another young guy (only 23!) that could tap into something more down the road. Jake Lamb is really up in the air, out for this season so is a good bounceback candidate for next season, huge power but 1. doesn't hit lefties well at all 2. I wonder about his playing time after the D-Backs acquired Escobar. Knebel... This guy is elite if he can keep his command under control, if not he's a disaster. Has incredible stuff, is a young closer & on a winning team. This will probably sting in the future, but I have a surplus of closers/RP with Betances, Barnes, Ottavino, Hand, Morrow & Miller. So I really didn't need that much and I felt it was alright to cash in on a bat.

Kyle Wright for Justin Turner: I liked Kyle Wright but I could live with him and adding Turner who swings a hot bat but has been riding the injury plague this season was a good buy-low candidate. Of course I don't love his age, but at this point it was time to go big or go home. He's been healthy since I've had him and hitting the ball well.

Triston McKenzie, Dylan Cease & Yusnial Diaz for Charlie Morton: This one, while a good trade, stings. I had been stashing Cease and McKenzie for a while... I think they can be really good. But despite Morton's age, it needed to be done as he's been nails the last two seasons. I needed a SP that's putting up numbers like Morton if I want to cash in. Mutually good trade for right now, I think when it's all said and done Homerun gets the better haul. But you can't put a price on a championship

Aaron Sanchez & Eric Hosmer for Sean Newcomb: This one will have to be played out to see how it truthfully ends up. Newcomb is young and shows some strong numbers but is still going through some clunkers of games and having youth struggles. But he's ultimately putting up good numbers and hopefully grows as a pitcher. Hosmer is a guy I know can be better than he's showing, that said I think he's a limited upside player. While he can put up strong numbers like in 2017 I don't know if he ever taps into putting together an MVP campaign season, I feel like Hosmer is a guy that sells based on his name. Aaron Sanchez I bought low last season in hopes that he tapped into his stellar 2016 campaign, obviously that hasn't been the case. Blisters and injuries keep him off the mound and seems to struggle when he's starting. He needs consistency, hopefully for Jake he can get that. An X-Factor in this trade that is a low risk-mid/high reward.

Shane Bieber & Stephen Gonsalves for Ross Stripling: Ultimately a depth SP trade Stripling has been having a killer season, posting great stats minus minor injuries & Dave Roberts... It's been a joke that he was sent to the bullpen when you look at his stats this season. I think he finds his way back in but for now is still a young guy that I think will find his way back into the rotation. Bieber and Gonsalves are also really nice pitchers. Bieber has a nice ceiling and excellent command, pitching for an offensive heavy Indians team.

Chris Archer & Junior Guerra for Mike Foltynewicz, Brandon Nimmo & Whit Merrifield: Okay, the big one. I like Folty and it's a huge plus that he's only 26 and looks like he's figuring things out (but so did Robbie Ray last season... ). Putting together a fantastic 2018 season to top off with a 10.4 K/9. I like the upside a lot. Nimmo is a guy that really needs to cut down on strikeouts. Only 25 but is sporting a .265/.387/.503 on the season. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with a full season. And finally Whit Merrifield, downside = the Royals. Had him last season and traded him in a package for Didi Gregorious (which I'd like to mention worked out beautifully) and sucked to lose him especially early this season with having a 2B dilemma. A little down in the HR department this season but sporting a .300+ BA along with a .373 OBP, and steals being a huge factor in his game. Not sure if I'll hold onto him or not but a nice piece in this deal. So Guerra, nice depth SP for Seth but for me not much there. A 33 year old pitcher who is (to me) the "you get what you get" from him kinda pitcher. Doesn't get blown away but isn't going to light any team up. Good streaming option, happy to move him for some youth/upside any day. And Mr. Archer, love the guy. Really liked having him but it's been a lot of let down since I've had him. He'll always give you the K/9 which keeps me itching for more and hoping he pulls it together. But he gets hit, gives up runs and has struggled to go deep into games consistently. Hopefully for Seth he gets better as he ages, but it seems to be the opposite in his case as he seems to be less effective every season. All in all the NL should help him, but truth be told he's a guy like Hosmer who sells himself well based off of his name and not so much on performance.

Whew, that was a lot of trades

Time will tell on these but as of now I'm happy with all of my trades. Feeling confident especially without the presence of C-Mart, having him next year will be huge to add to this team. Grabbed some veterans that are performing but also got a lot of youth in all of these trades which we all know is a huge plus.
