The Astros have been there and done that. The yankees have not, at this point I believe the Astros have the edge; however, I do think the trade deadline will make it much more interesting. If the yankees make a significant move and the Astros don’t, then I’m worried a bit as an Astros fan.

Clay. Holmes is your closer, hopefully it stays that way for y’all. Two of my best friends are Yankees fans from NY and it’s so much fun to be in this spot. Ultra competitive playoff baseball is awesome.

Interesting stat....

Yankees also have better offensive stats than the Astros in all measurably relevant categories.

Yankees starters also have better pitching numbers vs. the AL than Houston does.

None of this is meant to say Houston is garbage, they are clearly right there, but don't make it sound like New York is miles behind Houston because they aren't.

Best record in baseball

I also like the point about records vs. .500 teams.... only 4 teams in baseball have a winning record against teams over 500

NYY 24-11 .686
NYM 25-17 .595
LAD 16-14 .533
HOU 12-9 .571

SD, SF, BOS are all at .500

They are leading by a big margin there too

Thank you for this, I was just listening to Mark Derosa and if I believed everything he said you might as well give Houston the trophy right now.

Oh I agree I was just looking for different takes but I definitely shouldn’t have listened to that tool. I knew he was a Yankees hater which is fine lots of them out there he just goes at it a lot harder than most.

Just a reminder the A's are hitting .211 as a team and are the worst hitting team in baseball.

That's what happens when you give up a lead off walk to a guy hitting .211. Stupid crap like that has a way of biting you in the ass.

Hell the whole team sucks but if Donaldson fields the infield hit they get out of the inning.

I'm sorry but WTF was Trevino thinking there? The last 2 batters walked, he's 20-0 and he swings at the next 3 pitches....all out of the zone. He has to use his head.

Starting to get sick of this home run or nothing offense. Trevino swung at ball 3 and Gonzalez had no business swinging at the first pitch.

Are two catcher's interferences in one inning a record?

I doubt it but the Yankees are very thankful.

Joey Gallo made two outs that inning. At the plate.

Made 2 of the 3 outs in that inning, how can they keep playing him 0-25 that is horrible and 11 were strikeouts.

Started off bad but they woke up, thank goodness they were playing the A’s or else falling behind 5-1 could’ve been trouble. Nice outing by Albert Abreu to close it out.

I'll admit, I gave up on us again and went to bed. Nice they keep proving me wrong, but for how long can they maintain that.
