Yeah… I don’t know if they are being restrained or it is just taking a while to get things up and running after the acquisition of the Marvel license. UD has been slow cranking out DC products too, so it could just be the calm before the storm for both properties with new companies.

Really nice, love hearing about hits like that out of blasters. 3 out of my 4 blasters had a #'d card, one being an Orange Lava Samurai Venom /25.

Well I work for a very large retailer and while UD's Series One/Series Two efforts were pretty terrible, I would stay far far away from any DC offerings from UD ... if DC Annual is any indicator of how things are going to go down. I used to really enjoy picking up a few blasters of Marvel Annual despite not even being a real hardcore Marvel reader ... the blue mirror parallels always looked nice -- if there were a few manufacturing defects.

For Topps the real question is: What will be the replacements for PMGs?

They have the SuperFractor. That takes care of mutiple levels of PMG, if you ask me (only bolstered by the Topps breakers), what with the 22 parallels.

I do wonder, though, if that's why 2025 Chrome has the weird (in my opinion) Clawed Chrome parallels. Maybe that's their answer? While PMGs were generally base set parallels, they were almost a parallel subset on their own.

Yeah, that's true. The thing is that I chased PMGs back in like 2015 ... it was fun. No way I'm chasing a superfractor -- other people can lose their shirts over that impossibility.

To better rephrase the question: Will a running concept arise that will fill that weirdly popular slot that PMGs filled? I'm sure Topps is ready to say "oh yeah, we got that covered, people are going to _love_ the wolvie slash cards and that's PMG". But what I'm curious about is will the secondary adopt something as the fun new PMG?

The Clawed Chrome parallels feel closer to a Jambalaya than PMG to me ... but only time will tell how they shake out. I have yet to hold one in hand so my opinion ain't worth much right now.

Won the EQL on fanatics. Just received this e-mail. Ouch. They literally were able to decide how many to make available for the drop.

Also, 95% stuff isn't going to be worth much long term anyways in either scenario. The one positive about all the parallels, we get more choices to collect. There is a tipping point though, when somebody is presented too many choices, it is actually a detriment and turnoff.
So you solution is to make fewer hits while boxes remain expensive? How does that make anything better? There are two parts to value. Cost and contents. You are making one worse and it doesn’t change the other. Not a lot of sense making going on in that scenario.

Wow… that’s lousy. Looks like one of the deeper pockets made Topps a bigger offer to get more product.

I always say "nothing will surprise me with fanatics" but ... wow. They're basically a Seinfeld bit now.

I would have to venture a guess, from the opportunistic business/strategic planning side of myself - if I were them, I'd absolutely be putting aside a percentage of every product run they make. Let this stuff marinate for years in a vault. Start releasing a case here and there, years from now, at whatever the 'local card shop' (owned by Brady/Fanatics/Dick's/whoever) at heavily attended in-shop exclusive drops. Capture all that growth and plaster it all over your social media. Hire me, Fanatics. We'll 20x this.

My son stopped by Gamestop and they had Marvel blasters for $30, so of course we had to rip. First one produced this guy.

Against my better judgement, ripped a hobby box and was surprised with a clawed /10, these cards really are super nice in hand.

Ventured into a full case group break PYC for 1/5 the price of a box and walked away with a parallel. High #'d but at least it's a parallel that matches the character:

Congrats! I luckily got 4 blasters from a big box retailer online late night restock and they arrived last weekend. I cracked them and hit this which I listed on ebay and it sold in a few hours, really surprised at how much these are commanding:

Very cool card, but a /399 parallel going for $180 is truly absurd. Great to be able to hit a card like that, sell it, and then just pick it up down the road for $25.

I don't think it will ever get down to $25 ... maybe $50. I think that people are overvaluing these color/web match parallels. So being the first card on the checklist + spider man + web parallel ... well, some folks think that will make it an iconic card. Maybe, idk, that's for them to decide.

Is it absurd? Sure, the hobby's been absurd for like five years now though ... at some point it's the new normal.

Non-sports hasn't been absurd like this though, this is the new Fanaticsized non-sports world. Spider-man /399 parallels from Marvel Platinum, one of the best Marvel sets ever, go for $5-10 shipped. This is manufactured hype and FOMO to the n'th degree.

If you can get them for $30 at GameStop or snipe an online restock at Target then I'd say go for it. I get why people would pass at $50+.

I've watched 3 cases of blasters opened and have opened another half case myself. So far 23-25 boxes out of 40 contained a hit on all 3 full cases. 18-20 of the hits were numbered /199 or higher with the majority being /399. 2 of the 3 cases contained a Galactic Legends and 1 orange lava /25 and the other case just had 2 orange lavas. All 3 cases had a /10 and 1 case had an auto.

Maybe too much info, but basically if you hit a Galactic Legends, auto, orange lava or anything numbered /100 or less out of a couple blasters then you did way better than average. Your average blaster is either going to have nothing at all or maybe a /399.
