17 out of the way on Saturday

Dug up a couple bushes that were getting a bit out of control. Good weather for sweaty work.

You know, actual sweaty work. Not sweating because you're in the sun on a riding mower (ie not work)

Mowed maybe number 10 yesterday but skipped the backyard. Need to buy more gas.

I'm glad I don't have to deal with something dumb like that.

What would be dumb would be not dealing with it. No big deal - just put a ladder up against the gutter and sprayed sections of the north 1/2 of the roof from a bottle attached to a hose - no getting up on the roof. Took about 1/2 hour. I used the "Wet 'N-Forget" brand that you don't have to rinse off.

Roof has been quite a saga this summer. Will save that story for another day, when the work actually gets done.

Oh boy. We just got a new roof put on my Mom's house in the late fall. That was a cluster trying to find someone who would come out to look at it and then give a quote. All the local people said they wanted to quote but would never show up or return calls. I forget who my sister finally got (it was a company, not just a couple of guys). Probably cost more but the workers had it done in like a day. Those workers might not be in the country anymore.

#20 in the books. This is later than I normally do it and the animals were out in force.

1 deer, took off in the woods
6+ rabbits
10+ swallows that I had whipped into a frenzy, if you will

In the back of the Compound I was going along and saw the grass moving in front of my mower. Got closer and saw a vole. Chalk that one up to Red.

My story may rival that when the time comes.

18 done yesterday

Spent a fair amount of time in the mulch beds digging up thistle and some other weeds

The good news is the "pollinator" corner is doing well. We have had quite the flurry of butterflies; many monarchs and yellow swallowtails (among others).

I've been watching a monarch chrysalis for a little over a week. It's hanging on some decorative grass next to a sidewalk at one of the houses I walk by regularly with the doggo. Looking close to opening up!

Added this for corny's benefit.

#21 finished almost two weeks after #20. Compound looks good, we’ll see if we get any rain in the next few days or not.

Torrential downpour overnight here last night but not enough to make a difference.
Hairy's half-acre remains crispy.

19 out of the way yesterday

Storms came through late Saturday night - lots of sticks and a couple branches in the yard needed cleaning up

It blows my mind you have someone strip your bed but not have a landscaper.

1 task is boring and the other gives me joy

What's hard to understand about that???

I like being outside, working with my hands, and getting sweaty. That's something you can't really do changing sheets...well, unless you've had a few too many Dairy Bois...

I’ve lost track, I think it was #12 or 13 yesterday. Nice breeze but quite humid. Was sweating like Boo sitting on his rider mowing down rabbits.

20 done yesterday

Blades need sharpening. Made the decision to double cut to make sure strays weren't running around out there. Will break out the file this week and get those babies sharp.
