In the 2000's you used to get 4-5 Chromes per box....

The whole idea of making the top rookies case hit SP's is beyond idiotic, since it makes it almost impossible to build a master set.

Topps/Fanatics seems to have forgotten (or just no longer care) that Heritage has always been primarily a set-builders product.

Now they've turned it into just another hit-based product designed for gamblers/breakers....

After watching some box breaks, I have to agree. I wasn't warm on the design but now that I've seen them I think they look great.

Hmm -- I remember Ohtani's 2018 Heritage base card being SP.

That was an action variation - his RC was in HHN at regular print.

Of course, back then they were numbered to the actual year (i.e. 1956) not to #/999.

Here's how to make a sensible hobby box that provides decent value:

8 SP's
3 each of New Age Performers, Then & Now, Flashbacks, News Flashbacks
1 regular chrome
1 chrome parallel (i.e. refractor, color, etc.)
1 action variation
1 "box hit"....i.e. auto or other scarce variation/mini/SSP

Get rid of relics and cut the SP's back to 50 subjects (i.e. 10% of the checklist).

Every pack would have something other than base cards, and the SP set and inserts would be much easier to complete.

If they did that boxes would be over $100

you are basically wanting all the good stuff for the same price they charge now.

2016: 195 / 1,353 = 14.41%

2012: 188 / 1,284 = 14.64%

Topps Heritage year: rookies cards / total base cards = percentage of base cards that are rookie cards

2023: 110 / 500 = 22%

2022: 54 (4 triple RCs) / 500 = 10.8% (62 total rookies depicted)

2017: 25 (all dual) / 500 = 5% (50 total rookies depicted)
Fair enough. I guess being a Guardians fan and seeing a new pitcher every week, it felt like players were constantly being called up at a much higher rate than past years but I can't argue against the qualified rookie stat.

I'm still not sure that adding 50+ rookies to the checklist is a move to allure investors. Maybe. Some guys take several years to pan out so you can possibly catch lightening in a bottle if someone really breaks out and only has a Heritage rookie. You also have the one-and-dones who in prior seasons may have never had an MLB card, period. So a Heritage rookie could be their only card I suppose, but outside of team collectors those may not be of much interest.

Flagship is the most appropriate product to dump the lower interest rookies. Aside from Heritage and Flagship, most products are entirely too small to take up that much real estate with low level rookies. I can see why Heritage is more sacred to collectors.

Looking for an Adley Rutschman black refractor.

I know I'm not alone in this search, but hit me up if you want to go direct.

For those who ordered from BO, apparently they are planning on receiving these tomorrow and then shipping out ASAP. So maybe Saturday or Monday delivery?

If you are opening a case in hopes of a master set.....good luck. I have doubles and triples of some SP's and am well short of a master. I used to be spot on with SP's (except for the purple hot which usually gave me doubles).

People pre-selling might have some issues.

I see two players numbered 327 Chafin and Wong. Assuming this is a Topps screw up and not a variation of some kind. Back numbers both end in 31.

It’s out of 441,000 packs and I live in Texas I won’t have a problem moving this.

It used to be spot on up until 2-3 years ago for me (been doing Heritage by the case(s) since 2013). Last couple of years I've had a case or two with some trips and about 64-68 unique SPs, a case or two with about 76-80 unique SPs, and a case or two that remained near perfect with the exception of the PHB. It's been all over the board. You genuinely have to do two cases to get the master these days. It's frustrating when you start duping SPs in box 4 that I can tell you...
