A not-at-all-related-to-the-above-post fact: Justin Fields, Matt Flynn, and Brett Hundley all have the same number of wins as starters against NFC North opponents.

Jordan Love in zero starts against the Bears has as many wins vs them as Justin Fields has in 4 starts against GB.

Also fact. Justin Fields, who played on a team built to tank, has more NFL MVP votes than Jordan Love. Its true, look it up!

Could not be a more putrid franchise. I wish they were in the nfc east, two free wins a year.

LOL. Cowboys aren't beating the Lions twice in a year.

They're paying a mediocre QB Mahomes type money

You’re right.

I think Detroit will sneak into the playoffs—which means the Cowboys might beat them three times.

Banner day for the NFC North yesterday.

Bears: traded out of 1.01 (good!) only to trade back and take a right tackle with character concerns
Lions: traded back (also good!) only to take another RB and an off-ball LB
Packers: drafted a back-up DL from Iowa
Vikings: took a small WR with below average athleticism

Pick one: undersized QB
Pick two: dum dum
Pick three: overpaid to acquire
Pick four: project

Shall we continue?

Bears proved they were blowing smoke for months, by taking an Lineman no one thought they would. A very unsexy pick, for a team that could have taken literally anyone in the draft they wanted, just 6 weeks ago.

Lions 1st was a headscratcher for sure. Gibbs is a good player. But RB was not one of their needs at all. Most boards had him at the end of the 1st, like to Bills at 27, Bucs at 28 or Eagles at 30. Maybe even early day 2.

Lions 2nd was OK. He was the best LB in the draft, but this is also a very poor draft of LBs.

Packers was a good pick, I like Van Ness. Just not at #13. That was a reach for him, and he is very raw. But dude is a monster, just poor technique. I think this was the best player taken in the North. Just a bit risky.

Viking I dont like at all. He runs routes well, and he was productive in college. But really undersized and kinda slow. Do you take a slot receiver that high in round 1?

I’m guessing the Lions trade back with their 34th pick. Swapping 2nd round picks and picking up either a 3rd this year or a 2nd or 3rd next year.

Gibbs will be another weapon for the Lions.Other teams where interested in him
(Jets)so he was taken at 12.

I like the Wright pick for Da Bears.

But if/when Jalen Carter starts destroying ppl, the 8 teams that passed on him (including the Bears) will look foolish. However, I think Jalen Carter went to the perfect situation. A winning organization that has 3 of his college teammates and older vets to mentor him.

If he goes to any of the other teams, not sure he thrives without that same support system.

I like Sam Laporta as a player, but the Lions are really going all in on spending high picks on the least valuable positions.

And seems like reaching for each one. I know it is subjective, but you shouldn't need to scroll for the pick on "best available", lol.

I’m wondering if the Lions are thinking about outscoring their opponents vice stopping them from scoring.

A respectable pick for the Lions!

Brian Branch from Alabama

I love he stayed around to hear his name and enjoy the experience of walking on stage.

I have no idea what the Lions have been thinking with this draft.

However, it's just the draft. The season is the season. The true assessment of the draft for any team comes then.
