Bears fans salty today. Really pressed about a throwaway remark.

Right now, he's the most exciting player in the NFL.
It usually takes 2 or 3 attempts to bring him down. He's fast, has a lot of moves in the open field, and is starting to improve his pass accuracy. But as others have said and alluded to, this kind of play has not shown itself to be sustainable over the long term. That's why Mahomes is so great. He can do most/all of the things Fields does with his legs, but he only brings it out as a last resort. If Fields can beat teams with his arm more than his legs (like a 80/20 or 70/30 ratio), he could be great for a long time. We've NEVER had this kind of excitement around a QB in Chicago. I can't remember any "good" losses as the Bears the past two weeks against the Fins and Lions. Although it hurts to give up a lead to the lowly Lions at home.

This new staff is doing what Nagy and his staff refused to do. And that is, to build a game plan around your QB's strengths. Goes back to Trubisky, no counters, traps, sweeps and roll outs. You have a QB that can move, you play that up. Not force them to sit in the pocket and go through progressions. If its in their blood, its hard to get that out. Mobile QB's can adapt. But will get frustrated when you neuter their game. |

I just think if he gets too dependent on the run, and leans on it too hard... we've seen how that ends.

Everyone knows. There have been guys like Fields before, and there will be guys like Fields after. They don't last when they turn every play into the Wildcat. |

His best play yesterday IMO for showing his growth and future was midfield. Dodging the pass rush, quick reset and a 22 yd dart for first down.
If he gets better at the passing game, and not only reliant on his legs, he will be a superstar. Already seeing it. |

Herm Edwards likened him to Vince Evans today - you guys cool with that or no?

Crazy how he's getting praise on here when he's essentially a re-skinned Ljax, who is BO's version of Pol Pot.

If Edwards wants to comp Fields to someone he would have played against I'd think Randall Cunningham would be closer than Evans. |

Look, I get it. You are a Lions fan. And that makes you sad all of the time. Your team hasn't won a playoff game since 1992. You have never seen your team in the Super Bowl, let alone win it. And the last time your team even won the division, was 1993. I totally understand why you are grumpy all the time. But slinging mud at another fan base, is a bad look. Especially coming from you (a Lions fan, nothing personal). |

Tom Brady rushing yards in 23 seasons, 682. Justin Fields through 10 games this year, 749 (555 in last 5 games)
Fields > Brady. End thread

I don't think that is a compliment the Vince Evans I remember was a pick machine but he could scoot and occasionally was hot and looked like the best qb in the league until bad Vince showed up the next game or so.

Fields, Jackson, Colin K, Vick, S. Young, Bobby Douglas and all the way back in the early 50’s a qb by the name of Tobin Rote who in 3 consecutive games had a total of 22 attempts 373 yards 2 td’s while averaging 16.95 yards per carry. What has Fields done? Pretty much the exact same thing that Rote performed over 7 decades ago. It’s nothing new. We just forget history, and history self repeats.

Nope - transferred. Disqualified!
My favorite OSU grad QB will always be Art Schlichter.

2. Did he lead his team into the playoffs? Yes. 3. Am I technically correct? Yes. 4. Is being technically correct the best kind of correct? Also yes. 5. Have you solved the world's salt crisis by making Bears fans extra salty? Believe it or not, yes. Nice try Old Chop! |
