Jbnve9-Most buyers aren't concerned with what the letters or numbers(bin) are by the card description, they just want their cards. I've been selling since 2005, and there were no bins back then. I had suggested to the owner several times that it would be helpful to sellers. I explained if he could include a location box on the loading page, that would transfer to an invoice page, it would help all sellers, particularly sellers with large inventories. It took a while, but Max finally added bins. It helps when you buy collections. I have 2 guys that I buy bulk from and I assign each buy a seperate bin. That way, I can pull orders quickly, but can also track sales to make sure I make my money back. Unfortunately, I have thousands of cards that were loaded prior to bins, so every once in a while, I have to check several boxes to find a card.

As for having like cards being in different bins, it happens a lot when buy collections or bulk. That's one of the benefits. You may have 2020 Topps in 3 bins, F24, F25,F26, but card #250 is only in bin F25, which shows up on invoice. You dont waste your time looking through 3 bins of 20 Topps, you know its in F25. I have a lot the same cards in all 3 bins, but I pull from the bin thats on the invoice. I get a little frustrated when you are pulling a large order of the same set(maybe have some in 5-6 bins) and you know most of the cards are in one or two bins, but sportlots has you bouncing around to all the bins. They dont have any pattern, no First In-First Out, Fifo inventory system. I think the system just grabs a bin. But at least its easier than it was in 2005. Good Luck to you. The more you load, the more chances you have to make a sale.

Sales have been pretty good all month. Better then June not quite as good as April. May was the living end. As far as BINS go all my stuff is marked by year and set and added to as needed. I do see it's value if you sort that way.

I honestly had no idea what that "BIN" column was for and stopped even looking at it long ago. Nice to know it has a function and can be used. I sort my cards like Westlake however there are a lot of one off cards, inserts and such that I haven't listed because I always worry about storing them and finding them again. Maybe time to pull those boxes out and get some of that stuff listed.

July has been my best month of 2020 so far - not off the charts but steady all month.

I have a small selection, a little over 2k cards. Wanted to get up and running though and wanted to see if my organization would be sufficient or if I needed to change something up. Looks like it's fine.

I probably spend way too much time on organization. I don't really care what cards are in what box. I sort the box by card #, numbers first then letters (so card #30, 31, 299, then BDC-2, BP-19, etc). Jot them into a spreadsheet based on the box. Then use the spreadsheet to add the cards to Sportlots. I delete the entry from the spreadsheet when it sells.

If I ever got to Elizabethtown inventory levels, I'd probably have to figure something else out as there's a fair amount of back and forth. But for someone who will probably add a box a week or so, this will work for me. It's my first month on Sportlots and I'm enjoying it. And I don't have to worry about organizing the boxes by years, sport, etc. Also means that I have not had an issue finding any one offs or weird insert cards.. yet . When I go to list on Sportlots, I just filter by Make and X them when they're on Sportlots.

Spreadsheet looks like this, with each box being a different tab. BIN works great in conjunction with having the boxes labeled by box #:
Box Sport Year Make Card # Player Quantity Attributes Numbered Condition Sportlots
4 Baseball 2020 Topps 1 Brendan McKay 1 Opening Day X
4 Basketball 2019 Mosaic 1 Kyrie Irving 1 Give and Go X
4 Basketball 2019 Mosaic 2 Derrick Rose 1 Got Game? X
4 Baseball 2020 Topps 3 Garrett Cooper 2 Opening Day X
4 Basketball 2019 Mosaic 4 Kawhi Leonard 1 Will To Win X
4 Baseball 2020 Topps 4 Brandon Woodruff 1 Opening Day X
4 Baseball 2020 Topps 5 Mike Moustakas 2 Opening Day X
4 Football 2015 Topps Platinum 5 Tom Brady 1 X
4 Football 2019 Contenders 5 Zay Jones 1 Season Ticket X
4 Football 2019 Donruss 5 Anthony Hitchens 1 X
4 Basketball 2019 Mosaic 5 Jrue Holiday 1 Give and Go / Silver Mosaic Prizm X
4 Football 2019 Score 6 Spencer Ware 2 X
4 Basketball 2019 Mosaic 6 Bryn Forbes 1 X
4 Basketball 2019 Contenders Draft Picks 7 De'Andre Hunter 1 School Colors X
4 Basketball 2019 Contenders Draft Picks 7 De'Andre Hunter 1 Game Day Ticket X

I post this in the chance it will help someone get an idea on what they want to do, as I didn't really have a method I wanted at first and wasn't sure how to best do it with minimal physical space at home.

Timber09-the bin is great for smaller groups like inserts or star cards. One guy I buy bulk from sorts some stars from time to time, hundreds at a time. Instead of taking the extra time to file them with the other base cards, I just load them separately, creating a separate bin for them.

tbc-you're right. With just one box of cards, one bin makes sense. As you grow, I would advise you to do as Westlake and timber09 mentioned, load by year and brand. For me, I buy bulk several times a year and I may get the same year and brand in each buy. I still make sure they are all in same bin, with a separate designation. Take 19 Topps, got one bin-F, but I've got the same year and brand from three buys, so I separate the different buys with index card, marking them F1,F2,F3. It will be a while before you'll have to worry about this, but even small collections should be sorted bycand brand. Good Luck

If you reach double blue seller status you can opt to get paid 2x a month.

That’s if you choose to be paid out monthly, but if you have credit chosen then ask for a payout, it says it is done once a week. Not sure if anyone else had done that? I can wait until the first or second but just curious.

They recently changed the payout rules. My understanding of the new rules are if you request money directly to you the max for the year is $599. If you choose paypal they will transfer any amount you have in your credit account.

If I am incorrect maybe one of the more seasoned sellers can correct me.

Ok but they still only calculate once per month. "Sportlots pays sellers at the beginning of each month for orders filled the previous month."

I have my payments made via credit - not sure how it works outside of that method.
That means that all the money accrued in July for example is not available until the books finalize at the end of the month. Once it is all tabulated, it is added to my existing balance.

I like to get a decent lump sum instead of small increments so I generally wait until I have over $1k in my account.

Most of my cashouts have been requested shortly after the first of the month when everything has posted and those have all been processed very quickly. I have experienced a little longer delay when requesting payment in the middle of the month though it has generally been less than a week for the paypal deposit to come through (from what I can remember).

Been trying to register for an account on Sportlots, and its fails on every try. Just stumbled across this site, and seems to be ideal for all the cards im looking for in singles to close out sets.
Sent an email to them. We'll see if I hear back.

Might be your password. I had a problem with a symbol in my password. They told me to stick with numbers and letters.

I had an interesting order come through today - 27 cards in total - first two were Vladimir Guerrero and Fernando Tatis - but they were 2002 and 2004 cards - with the Sr. versions!

And keep in mind Vlad Jr's dad is a HOF'er

Just finished my first month on sportlots. Sold over 200 cards that were just sitting in my closet. Have a few questions on payouts and what not that will probably be answered in next few days.

One question for now, how long do all your sales show up under orders filled tab? Do they clear out at month end, after number of sales, or never? This makes it a PIA to go back when printing packing slips.

Later today, or tomorrow, they will move one tab to the right inside a tab called prior history where you can see every prior month of sales.

In that tab there will be separate links for each prior month of sales history you have. Those links will look like this:

Orders from 20200601 to 20200630

That link would show you your June 2020 sales data, and when you click on it, it will look exactly like your orders filled page did in that month.

I agree with this - it would be nice to have more sort options on the filled order page.

There could be more options to make it easier for sure but I found it is easier to alter the way I process cards which has made it pretty easy not to have to jump around.

For example, it is an extremely rare occasion where I use the "Pull Cards" option to fill orders. Unless I get a couple large orders where I know there is significant overlap, I use the following:

1. Click on order number field which pulls up packing sheet.
2. If multiple orders, organize in the most efficient way to pull cards.
3. Pull cards.
4. Package and ship.
5. Click on fill order.
6. When needed, add tracking under the "Orders Filled" tab.

In general, I don't click "Fill Order" until the cards are in the envelope and ready to go.

This process may be less efficient for the real big sellers on the site but I've been averaging 80-90 packages per month this year and it has worked out pretty well.
