I don't understand, are you saying there is no option where the picks go:

Winner = last pick
Runner up = 11th pick
3rd place = 10th pick
4th place = 9th pick

That's just common sense so how is that not an option?

I think there may just be confusion in the statement of lower pick/earlier pick, can you just assign the # of the pick so there won't be any confusion.

I'm voting for whichever scenario looks most like the one above, if you LOSE the playoff game you should have the better pick.

I agree with what you stated above. Below is are the 2nd options pending vote and it only effects draft positions 7 and 8 so that was most of the confusion Im guessing. Hope this helps but let me know if there are further questions.

Most Points Scenario

Draft Order:
1st - 6th pick = Not for vote; based on record)
7th- RD 1 playoff loser (least total pts)
8th- RD 1 playoff loser (most total pts)

9th- Loser of 3rd place game
10th- Winner of 3rd place game ($)
11th- Loser of Championship ($)
12th- Winner of Championship

Consolation Game Scenario

Draft Order:
1st - 6th pick = Not for vote; based on record w/ points a tie breaker)
7th- Winner of 7th/8th Consolation Game
8th- Loser of 7th/8th Consolation Game

9th- Loser of 3rd place game
10th- Winner of 3rd place game ($)
11th- Loser of Championship ($)
12th- Winner of Championship

Ok so poll is now live to determine picks 7-8 (playoff losers). Below is a brief description of each so you know what youre voting on. If anyone wants to add anything please post below.

I will leave the poll open for 48 hrs and after that go with whichever has the highest vote total. Im not going to track you down so if you dont vote Ill assume you dont have a preference either way. If you have a preference i urge you to vote.

The penalties will be updated this afternoon and Ill be reaching out to everyone for confirmation here via GroupMe.

Poll:

How would you like to determine draft order for 7th and 8th positions (first 2 teams out of the playoffs)?

1.) Season Long Most Points (including ALL playoff games)
2.) Winner of Consolation game gets lower pick

POLL LINK

Season Long Most Points:

Simply the first to playoff losers would play in the consolation game. Once over, the decider of who gets lower/higher pick is most points for the season including that game. Lowest points between the 2 would get the earlier pick.

Consolation Game Determines Pick:
Same scenario as above. First 2 losers in the playoffs would play in a consolation game. The winner of the game would get the earlier pick. Any ties would default back to most points. (least amount of points for the season would get earlier pick)

Thanks, that clears it up! I don't have a huge preference for the 7/8th, I'd probably just vote for the consolation game so the playoffs can still mean something for those 2 teams.

Good Morning,

I'd like to make a suggestion for next year...the removal of Divisions.

Teams w/the best records should be awarded accordingly. As it stands now, a team with fewer wins will get awarded a playoff spot (and a higher seed) over a team with a better record...only because he was lucky enough to be placed in a weaker division. By removing divisions, the better teams (and not the lucky ones) will advance to the playoffs.

PS. Plus if anyone should be in the Western division...it's me!!! lol

Social I completely agree and it was something I was going to bring up once the season ends since it will not let me eliminate divisions mid season.

UPDATE:

No change will be made as the decision was not unanimous.

Will vote for majority for next season.

Also just to confirm, the 7th and 8th spot in the draft will be determined by the winner of the consolation game. Thank you to those that voted. I will updated this on the home page tonight

I support ending divisions for next season. I don't believe it is a fair thing to consider changing weeks before the playoffs. All parties involved will only vote based on their own best interests. You don't make a change that beneficial or detrimental to borderline teams this late in the season.

On the contrary, I would hope that everyone would vote rationally on what’s best for the league.

Personally I think it’s absurd that 6-6 would make it over a 7-5 team based on division alone which holds no value to what that team has done for the season.

All that said i also agree that any rule changes during the season need to be unanimous. Especially for those it would effect. I will put you down for no.

That's why my comment began with "I'd like to make a suggestion for next year...the removal of Divisions."

If one of us would have brought this up earlier in the season...mid season change would have been ok with me. Unfortunately the playoffs are upon us, and it wouldn't be fair to make the change now.

PS. But I would vote for making the change now...lol

On the bright side, those teams with better records yet don't advance to the playoffs...will receive a higher draft pick than a team that advanced to the playoffs with a losing/bad record.

Normally I'm very against rule changes in season, especially this late in the season.

The reasons I'm ok with this being fixed are as follows:
1) No one could see the rule to make sure it was rectified earlier in the season. For example, say you thought there were 8 teams in the playoffs for some reason, when it obviously states 6.
2) The divisions don't mean anything, they were a random filling and you don't necessarily even play teams in your division for the extra games.
3) It should be common sense that the bye goes to the team with a better record.
4) We're a Dynasty league, which means we are playing together for a long time, if this were some cutthroat public ESPN league where you didn't know the people that's one thing (I'd still vote to fix the situation personally, but everyone has an opinion), but we should want it to be fair for everyone. This isn't unfair as this is how it should have been set up in the first place, it was a mistake on the commissioner's part that we ended up in the situation we are in now. I don't say that to be mean, I'm just saying we are playing under a mistake and we should fix it.

F.Y.I -

As a commish for my own league. I do know ESPN allows the League Manager to edit the playoff matchups (once the playoff week arrives).

Were you able to get a hold of Piirrate? I noticed they haven't logged in to blowout in 23 days.

Another Question -

Will the draft only consist of next years rookie class? Or FA as well?

For example - Let's say Calvin Johnson decides to make a return to the NFL. Would he be allowed to join any team (which normally would be those on the east coast, since I'm asleep when they wake up) or will he be available through the draft and if not drafted, via FA.

I can overtake the No.1 spot from vikings silver if rare luck can pull the upset! In addition I'll also need vikings silver to score 0 points, while I'll need to score 211.8 points!

Yes, he voted in favor of playoff seeding change.

You're allowed to pickup free agents in the offseason as long as ESPN allows it. There is a period where ESPN does lock all transactions for updates. Personally I have no issues drafting a player in free agency over a rookie if you want to, but its something we can discuss further in the off season.

For this season playoff seeding will be determined by record and ties going in favor of most points. I will manually set the playoffs once the regular season id over with $25 going to any player who loses a bye or misses the playoffs due to the rule change.
