Sports & Politics This section is for all political sports talk. Regrettably we feel that in some instances there is no way to eliminate politics from football, basketball, and baseball hobbytalk. Do you pretend nothing is happening with the Warriors, Steelers, A's, etc? This section is for all political sports discussion. However, it is for civil discussion only. No insults aimed at members, political parties, or politicians will be tolerated. There is no warning. If you cannot be civil, you will lose your posting privileges on this site.

The findings were that the other officer was in the wrong.

He and I both agreed that the vast, vast majority of police are doing the best job that they can, and are not the problem. The bad cops are. He also feels that way for the people he encounters on a daily basis. "There's bad apples on both sides, it just sucks that there's some people who think all the rotten apples are black and for whatever reason, culture, community, or whatever, we can just toss them in the trash, because they're not as good as us.''

I might have paraphrased that a bit, but I'm sure I'm pretty close.

He also believes that more than 80% of the 'white' folks he's spoken to on the matter say there's no problem, it's a lie, and made up by BLM/Antifa/Amy Shumer.

To preakness, I'm not disagreeing with your post, although you can't prove it. Maybe someone found God because a football player kneeled...stranger things have happened. So he didn't sell an 8 ball in Phoenix.

My point is, people who make comments like that are the same type of person who may not think there is an issue, because it doesn't affect them.

I get it, 'they did it to themselves', but the kids didn't. The elderly didn't. The working folks didn't. The regular, law-abiding people didn't. Or, are they all bad?

I get it, they're supposed to fix it themselves, because they did it to themselves. 'Merica. Except that's the most UN-American thing I could do. NOT help someone in need, especially someone who can't help themselves.

I get it, but I don't. Lock the crooks up. Clean up the neighborhoods. Improve the schools. etc, etc, etc...

There's room for compromise on both sides, but similar to politics, there's no budge, because they're both so right they're wrong.

I'm not sympathetic for the drug dealers, and the rapists, and the murders...they're all from Mexico, right President Trump? I'm sympathetic to the issues that do plague AMERICANS in our own country, be it to blacks, whites, brown, red, whatever color, religion, etc.

I love my country, and I love my people. To ignore and discredit because you don't care about the issue or the people is disgusting.

On the other side, to advocate violence towards police is equally disgusting and dangerous. These people are protecting our rights, and deserve respect. But, with that badge not only should come respect, but higher expectations. I understand frustration and outright anger, because the climate in this country is one of hate. Hate colors, religions, political associations, Walmart (I get it), etc. HATE = DIVISION = DESTRUCTION.

God bless.
I read the last 2 pages and KNOW this guy gets it . Carry on

I agree 100%, but I've read the ''they should be doing something in the community'' on here already, and when it is shown that some of the players are taking action, within the communities, it's ignored.

I'll play. It's Michael Jeffrey Jordan, of course. Probably before a game.

I agree, of course. It's that easy, we all know that. Yes, it takes effort, but Southside Chicago can't do it by themselves. Of course they need help; if we can help your average white farm boy who dabbled in meth for 2-3 years get help (I see it every day, at your expense -$$$), we can help a 16 year old black kid from Newark who has an 5th grade education that got busted for dealing crack on the corner. He matters, too.

I'm not here to make assumptions about you or any other member on here, but a lot of the pushback to 'helping' these AMERICANS in need is because they are minorities, and predominately black. Not by everyone, but to deny that would be ignorant.

It's not only a race thing for some people; get off your butt and make a change. I get it. Many, of all colors have done it. But when you are not afforded the same opportunities that white people 5 blocks over are afforded, from birth, can you honestly compare the two?

Again, I'm for improving yourself, your communities, your children, your future, but when anyone, not just a football player, wants conversation, wants change, we can't listen? It's not our problem? They did it to themselves?

We, as a country, have done a lot to ourselves, but we've also always lent a hand.
