Sucks, but could be worse, you could be so broke you couldn't pay for the starter.

This is the right way to look at the situation -- The OP's car was going to break down whether or not you had the money for it or not. Now you have the money to repair the car.

Worse things have happened.

Not sure if my story is good luck or bad luck. I have a 1964 VW and the accelerator cable broke Saturday on my way to go play golf. I fixed it on Sunday. It cost $3.76 for the part.

I just traded my car in, and got a new car three weeks ago. Friday night, went to go pick up my daughter so we could take out my mom for Mothers day and get into an accident. Waiting on the decision from the insurance company whether to fix or junk the car.

You left out the most important part. Did you make it to the course? How did you play?

Reminds me of last year... Tax time. Had another kid so I got a refund. I usually keep it tight and end up owing a few bucks. Last year I had a son in October but got the exemption for the whole year... Ended up with $3500. FIRED UP.

Two days after it hits my account... Roof over my family room starts leaking. FUDGE. I got an estimate... $3450. Swift kick in the nards. But thankfully I actually had the cash. Would have been a bummer to use tarps and frying pans.

I am just glad I have some cash to pay for the problem.

Update
I guess I can't complain to bad because it was the starter and cost me 250.00 to fix and only 40.00 to tow the car to the garage. My landlord has a contract with the tow company so I made out "Big Time" on the tow.

Also had some spending money and this is what I just picked up on the bay .
