Who's getting in on Prizm Football?

I wonder if they will do retired or legend autos. I asked the guy at the panini blog but he didnt have any info at the moment

Do we know if there's a retail only refractor version? Sorry if I've overlooked that. That really helped drive the retail for hoops.

retail sell sheet says 2 greens + 1 regular prizm per box (no red).

also says 1 auto/box. retail NBA is 1:2-3 boxes

also both hobby and retail sell sheets say 1 base RC per pack, so base rookies will be easier to pull in retail.

so retail will be a pretty good deal if you can find it at a decent price.

Golds are numbered to/25 too, if it follows the basketball production numbers which it likely will since autographs are numbered, there's probably going to be 5-9 Golds per case. $1200 is an awful lot of money to make back on one case though.

Ok, reading all your posts has convinced me. I am getting a case so we will see just how much money can be made on a case. The good thing is i got in at $1100. Are the gold parallels /10 or /25? Are there parallels of the autos...like a gold auto /10 or no?

Basketball is out of control. People are clearing shelves at retail of this stuff. I sold a couple greens I pulled and was able to get my money back on the 7 packs I bought.

Example: Kyrie Irving Greens were selling around 200 last I looked. Try getting even half that for a Luck unnumbered retail parallel. It won't happen.

as there is no NBA chrome, sterling, finest, platinum etc. and the rest of higher end Panini NBA products this year so far are crap, Prizm NBA has almost no competition that anyone cares about to this point. it would not be a surprise if key singles sell for higher than their NFL counterparts.

also NBA green prizms are pretty limited. seems likely <50 of each made based on probable size of the retail print run.

Hobby will have 2 autos i think per box? Also hobby will have the red rookie die cuts. I'm not sure if retail will have golds or the black 1/1's at all

Panini confirmed that retail gets 1/1 too. Stupid as hell imo.

Prizm wont be as successful in Football because football already has a far superior product in Chrome. It had muuuuuch better design work, on card autos, and all sorts of reasons to latch on. Sure, just put ROOKIE in 140 point text, and take up the bottom quarter of the card with a stupid looking border. Love it.

How is Chrome a better design? The card is mostly the picture. All variation in card design is the color of the border. Were black, pink, blue, red, etc. borders ground breaking design? Prizim has great looking insert sets. Maybe you don't like them, but at least there was effort put into the product.

I think Panini has a better idea on how to produce a chromium inspired card than Topps. They use a thicker coating than Topps, so the cards don't have that disgusting inch of bend to them with some corner twist added in the mix. Also, half of the cards don't have the standard Topps Chrome full card length scratch. It's easy to see that Topps throws out the same thing every year and some people are in awe of the different colored borders every year.

I was just explaining why Topps Chrome is one of the most reputed and highly sought after brands year after year...while no one really cares about Panini after a few weeks after their products release.

whatever you think of the design, the print run seems to be signficantly smaller than TC (retail WAY smaller), and wax price will likely settle higher than TC.

based on what they've done in the past they are probably only putting a few in retail just so they can say they are there. expect the large majority of blacks to be in hobby.

Product will be red hot coming out of the gate and thats music to my ears! Although Strata was hyped up pretty good before release and didn't deliver in my eyes (and thats just not cause my case sucked. I have seen many case breaks with multiple jersey autos out of Strata.)

I agree with you on Chrome, but if you think Prizm is gonna die like all the other Panini products.. I think you are wrong here.
