He has 2 years left on his deal. That is different than trying to attract coaches to be on his team, if he was in the last year of his contract. His seat is hot for sure, but it isnt like he is a lame duck.

It is easier for a 4 year pro to learn a new offense, then it is for a kid coming in from college, who has yet to even play a game in the Pros. Sorry, but I disagree completely on that. And i only pointed out how it was nonsense to even mention that the college player would have an advantage there.

I just dont think them deciding to stay with Fields or not fire Flus, as the same apocalypse that writer you linked does.
Point remains that the Bears are not putting Eberflus in the best position to succeed from a staffing point of view. It's harder to find an OC who wants to come to a city where you may only have one year to prove it before you're out looking for another job because the HC is already on the hot seat.

And yes, I'd say it is easier for a 4th year pro to learn a new offense rather than a kid out of college. But you're not taking into account their salaries, which give the rookie a huge advantage because lower salary = more time/patience. If you draft a college kid, you're giving that kid at least 2 training camps and 2 full seasons to learn the ropes, make mistakes, and show improvement (maybe 3 training camps and 3 seasons depending on the growth shown). Fields basically needs to master a new offense in a single training camp otherwise he's not getting paid and he's probably looking for a new home. That's why I give the learning advantage to the rookie. If you give 3 training camps and 3 full seasons to Fields to learn a new offense, then yeah, I'd give Fields the advantage. But that isn't realistic since Fields is gonna want to get paid before that.

Now I can see the Bears not wanting to wait 3 years before they're competitive so if they stay with Fields, I hope he can learn the offense quickly and the Bears give him a big pay day because that means he played amazing and the Bears at least made the playoffs.

Here's the cycle I was talking about with the Bears:

Fun fact: Justin Fields has replaced Mitch Trubisky twice.

Me as a Pittsburgh Fan: Are you kidding me? We got Justin Fields for a sixth? Khan artist strikes again. Super Bowl bound baby!!

Me buying FB Cards: Are you kidding me? Fields just went for a sixth. Why are his rookie cards so expensive?

Wonder what the issue was between Fields and Nick Foles? They said he wasn’t paying attention or something?

This guy nailed it in the NFC North thread.

By most every account, Dalton and Foles are likable people. But Justin just wanted to play his game, his way, and didn't care what anyone else had to say about him. Even though they were just trying to help.

Has been anything since year 3 in the league?

He's still the same guy who can't run a standard offense at anything of the efficiency of a starting quarterback.

I swear beyond being forced to take a pay cut he should become a Taysom Hill or Randal-El that's his skillset.

He'll get it together next year, just you see.

I think it's pretty incredible a starting QB in the NFL in 2025 has 4 games in which he threw for under 100 yards, and another where he just barely got over 100 in 116.

You give him too much credit, That is four games where he threw under 55 yards. All of them at home too

VS Bills 27 yards 0 TD
VS Broncos 45 yards 0 TD
VS Panthers 46 yards 0 TD
VS Browns 45 yards 1 TD but 1 INT

Fields is never the guy to lose you a game. He doesn't throw a bunch of picks, cause he doesn't throw a bunch of passes. But he sure as hell isn't the guy to win you a game either.
