Nice pull, topps did a great job with the golden mirrors, the imagery is a breath of fresh air when we got almost none of it from panini

Alright I've think I've had my fill of Jumbo Boxes. Opened my 2nd box

Once again 3 Numbered two Golds to 2025 and a Green Foil Ace Bailey to 99

Relic was Norman Powell

Auto-Walker Kessler Redemption (LOL 3 autos..3 Redemptions)

Silver Packs had at least a Stephen Curry Gold Refractor to 50

Pretty good couple boxes overall considering some of the breaks I've seen

It’s the same that they used for baseball.

That’s their M.O.

As a Curry collector, I'm just not feeling any of these cards -- the stupid high prices isn't helping either.

Why are the All Kings cards -- which are literally just copied from the All Aces insert in baseball -- so expensive? Trying to capture that "case hit" phenomenon you see with Panini inserts?

This is so dumb -- enjoy yourselves, people.

Fanatics is targeting the “dumb money” in the hobby.

My hobby box (that I purchased from Topps on pre-order) landed yesterday and I pulled absolutely nothing from it! My auto/relic was a Tyrese Proctor relic card, my only numbered card was Oso Ighodaro /250 and I did not even get a Cooper Flagg base RC in my box!

BUT, this is the first hobby box of basketball cards I have opened in nearly a decade and I am a fan of the release. I think the base cards look cool, love the 80-81 insert / parallel cards and I am enjoying the low end inserts that came out of my box. For an entry level paper release, it is exactly what I hoped for from Fanatics/Topps.

Consequently, I am putting together the base set and picking out a few inserts that I will chase down over the coming weeks and months. This release has taken me right back to my early set collecting roots of the 1990s and it is great to see the Topps logo back on licensed cards again.

This old basketball card collector is happy with this release.

There are a lot of sad and unhappy people hating. Maybe find a new hobby if you're so unhappy with this one? It's okay to move on. I hope you find happiness.

Just remember, the vast majority of negativity is coming from posters who haven't opened a single box and had no intentions of doing so anyway. They aren't here to share their hits and discuss the product. They are here to hopefully laugh at bad boxes and criticize everything they possibly can. And they'll be back when the next big release hits shelves.

LOL, any thread would be just as much a blind pumper fest and flipper boi sausage party if all everyone was trying to do was to deceivingly talk up every product to resell their boxes and cards for maximum profits and brag about how much money they made by increasing product cost for everyone else who wants to acquire/open some product.

Let the people speak, it’s a message board, not a product advertisement.

We are all glad licensed topps basketball is back.

Folks can still hate on a product but appreciate the cards if they are done right.

Honesty and free speech are the most important principles here.

I enjoy reading all the perspectives.

The only thing I don't understand is the complaint about Topps copying their inserts or design. This isn't new. This isn't specific to Topps. Panini does Kabooms, Downtowns(the original Downtown insert was related to 3 pt shooting in basketball thus it was called "from downtown" and has now made it's way to all the major sports), Color Blasts etc. Saying All Kings doesn't make since for Basketball is weird to me, Kings is just another way saying top players. Kings has been part of numerous inserts in basketball throughout the years. It's just a weird nitpick to me, since pretty much every company copies what makes their products successful and applies it to all sports

Not to derail the usual BO hater/pumper debates, but any idea on collation being funky similar to baseball flagship?

I'm trying to build a base set from some blasters and starting to see 6/7 of some guys and none of a few. Just random or something that's more widespread.

I'd rather not throw anymore money at opening than I need to.

I bought a blaster and one pack in knew I had the same cards as my hobby box.

I think the critics point at the lack of originality as baseball has done an easy to pull “all-aces” insert for many years and all the companies have done a playing card themed insert set in the past.

Choosing the design to make it the biggest case hit chase leaves people wondering where topps priority is - pushing the edge of innovation and creativity to produce something worth chasing, or just sticking to the recipe book for a cookie cutter crowd.

My biggest question for the set - how are they going to grade corners, they are all rounded! Lol

Baseball blasters have always had horrible collation. I would gather basketball to be the same. It’s a topps thing.

Blasters at least for my first round seemed to be pretty darn good, i hit 3 autos and 3 jerseys, one auto being alonzo top notch and an ace bailey jersey. I am in 25 blasters and 5 one pack hangers and this is the Flagg count so far.

Topps posts odds which makes it easy to get print runs.

Panini hides this information and then pumps out Prizm retail with like 1 numbered card that's impossible to hit. Topps isn't great, but let's not pretend like Panini was good.
