I mentioned it the other thread. Seems to get overlooked. Oleary didnt get into sportscards. He got into private lending/financing (Secure) which then lead to marketing with this sale and the 4.25 mil lebron sale. Both were done to amp ump the real business of private lending.

Commercial banks are not in the game of lending you 12mil for investments in a non regulated industry. So these purchases are to promote a private financing arm becoming a bank for sports cards. No long term. All short term. So the money has to be made in resale to recoup interest paid.

Sick card. But I was kinda surprised looking at eBay sold listings a Kobe/mj/Lebron triple auto /10 sold for $51K .. 13 million is a whopping 260 TIMES more than that. A card is what someone’s willing to pay I guess but idk I guess the $20K - $100K cards may be undervalued in comparison?

I don't know man. There are very few modern cards that could reach this height. If the McNall/Gretzky T206 Wagner or PSA 10 52 Mantle could get an estimated $20-$30 million, why couldn't the biggest chases of the modern world get $12 million. If there were modern cards that could get an amount that very few can afford like the older cards I mentioned, this is one of them.

Another factor in this current boom is the influx of money coming from outside the hobby. Aside from the Fanatics push, social media money, wealthy business leaders, etc. That's great for everyone.

Perfect example of a business buying a high priced card

O'Leary, Shyne, and the other circle jerks would never come out of pocket like that for a card

The $13M was basically the advertising budget so they'll make it back and then some + still have the card
