Received my first ever TAG slab a few days ago. I've never held one and was shocked to discover how incredibly cheap and poorly made they are. No joke, if I dropped it, it would shatter into a million pieces.

Nice slab. Crystal clear and the etched label is a huge upgrade over antiquated paper flips.

It's obvious all of you have drank the tag Kool-Aid.

Personally I hate the flimsy thing. There's no protection here

Bro. Hope all is well. Just look at my last post about TAG slab. I mentioned how easy they are to crack. The TAG pumper simply said I should work on not dropping it. To each his own, but TAG is only good for cracking and subbing to another company based on their DING report. If you PC they are a good slab, but most will not acknowledge the poor quality of their slab/plastic.

Keep buying TAG slabs based on the DING report. "The only thing TAG is good for is their transparent grading".....

So AI grading works?

That is likely speaking of some AI technology because people grading is not consistent. AI grading is not the issue, being as it is a tool. Would I send a card to TAG currently? No! When a company does not have open liquidity on every platform, including in person is is not smart money for ME. Would I buy a TAG for cracking because of the AI technology? Yes! It is a tool for getting the card in a more liquid slab for a better ROI. It is all business!

ROI for TAG in Pokemon is fine.

You are going to pay to >$15 to grade a card, to make more how much more profit?

Let us know how the 2nd grade compares with the TAG grade.

but that's the problem.

I don't deal in Pokemon and I'm sure many here don't as well.

Kinda defeats the purpose of a grading company to only have a good ROI in one niche.

Not if you are in that niche. The Reverend bought a Pokemon card. CGC is mainly a TCG grading company as well.

Things change.

Last week TAG graded 11,949 cards. This is up from 9,294 cards the week before. The last chart shows monthly grading numbers since February.

Looks like they aren't fingerprinting cards and grading the same card multiple times with large variances in grades.

Good videoo, not surprised by the results. Or at least the inconsistency.

I have my first TAG graded card on the way from eBay

Wow that really was an interesting video, and a few cards received higher grades after being cracked out. Even different numbers/grades on centering for the exact same card. So you know any grade change wasn't accidental damage from the crack out if the grade went higher or had different results for centering, etc.

Something I noticed in the video that I've always said about any AI-based grading company is the centering. He didn't really touch on this, but there will always be nuances to the design of certain cards, and it's impossible on some cards to estimate where a card design begins/ends and thus, thus where to determine centering.

However, you'd think with a company like TAG that they would have a human establish a design rule, and then the tech would be able to stick to that established rule for centering results. Clearly this isn't the case, and the centering results were as varied and inconsistent as human graders, which kind of defeats the entire point of being AI based.

Disappointing results.

1. PSA 8; TAG 8, TAG 7
2. CGC 8; TAG 9, TAG 10
3. PSA 6; TAG 10, TAG 5
4. TAG 8; TAG 6.5; TAG 6.5
5. CGC 7.5; TAG 10, TAG 9
6. PSA 8; TAG 8.5; TAG 8.5
7. BGS Pristine; TAG 10, TAG Pristine

Last week TAG graded 9,383 cards. I'll be interested to see TAG's response to the video that discodan45 posted above.

My card arrived today. Quick review of the slab. Size, weight, and clarity feel very similar to a cgc slab. Which is a good thing. I am still a little iffy on the "flip". The font and layout are nice. I like the idea of no paper. Just a bit annoying that it gets hard to read if you have something not plain underneath.

And, no the slab doesn't feel flimsy like it would crack just by twisting it. At least not with this sample of one. All in all, very nice slab.

C'mon, give it a little twist. You know you want to.

Looks like TAG made Art Cards for the Baseball Hall of Fame. I guess they got permission from the Hall of Fame to use their logo since it was also on the Hall of Fame's website.

The weird thing is they also graded the art cards instead of just saying V for Verified Authentic. You could get a 8, 9 , 10, or V I guess. We will see 1250 cards hit the Pop Report for baseball soon.

TAG graded 4,835 cards last week. Down from 12,772 the week before. TAG also confirmed that they will not be at The National this year and have a scheduling conflict where they will be at the Baseball Hall of Fame instead. Interesting choice.
