Just hit an Orange chrome update 1989 in a break yesterday. I thought it was Holliday when he slow rolled it. Only time I was Disappointed to get a Gunnar lol.

Yeah I wouldn’t be too disappointed just yet, all Jackson has proved at the MLB level is he can almost hit the Mendoza line while Gunnar wasn’t too far off MVP like numbers.
Most years a WAR of 9.1 = MVP

Man, I can’t believe this thread was dormant for 3 months. I guess nobody was going big on Gunnar this offseason, despite his prices not getting crazy out of control yet…

Yes, the Meijer Purple Exclusives. They seem to be rare but not killer rare like 2019 Update.

i agree.

not sure anything will compare to 2019 TU (for all the debatable reasons), but i feel as a whole the Meijer run (which is now over with this "Tinsel" crap that Fanatics started this year) will age well for the players that "make it"

- They dont grade well due to packaging
- The "unopened" product is sketchy at best as there is no true "unopened"
- The PR on them will never be known, but the pop reports for most are low
- its DAMN difficult to find quantity.

Hard to imagine a 9 selling for more than $499. I once sent in a card that had a recent auction end at $900-ish and didn’t get an up-charge.

Hehe, I only quickly glanced at the yellow highlight and nothing else, it got a “10.” Weird that they share the grades without letting me be surprised.
Too bad on the Skenes Xfractor, “9” so to the PC, was gonna make that my first ever for sale card.

What are you talking about? His average and OBP are both actually up from last season. OPS+ is only 10 points lower. And he's done that without a real hot streak, which he'll certainly have at some point if he stays healthy.

He's gotten unlucky in general - lots of hard hit contact all season and a few fly balls that could have been home runs hitting near the tops of walls. It's completely normal variance.

He's chased more this season to his detriment, but that's something he can adjust. He also started the season slow after missing a month (a few weeks of spring training and one week of the season) with an oblique injury.

I love players like Gunnar and Bobby Witt Jr. who can still be productive when they're getting unlucky or scuffling a bit.
