Will Topps Salvage the Zerocool Dune set?

We previously discussed the ‘extra’ 10 cards that were over the total cards in all 500 packs and wondered how they were distributed. Just watched a YouTube video of another unboxing and during the video, the guy said he talked to Topps about that issue and was told the Gold cards were a fifth card in those packs! So theoretically, you could weigh your box and know if it has a Gold! Of course, you would need to weigh a box without a Gold to have a base weight to compare against.

Maybe that means there's boxes with an extra non 1/1?

True. The Topps rep could have told him anything without knowing the real answer.

I pulled two gold foil 1/1s and they were not an extra card in the box. Also, I have opened 42 boxes so far and none of them have had an extra card. All 42 boxes had 4 cards.

They likely held back 10 base as replacements. Or just didn’t insert them and used as employee give away or samples. I doubt they’d hold back the lower numbers.

Sold a promo that I had slabbed as the /500 set was hitting. It only got a PSA 8 but was enough to double my outlay after grading fees and COMC commission.

Good sale, I sold a promo pack at auction and only got $67.50 before fees. I still have one more I’m holding because I was disappointed in the final amount I got

Whoa - am I the only one who is a little stunned at this post? 42 boxes/500 in the entire edition…that’s impressive! I’m assuming the trackers referenced previously in this thread aren’t updated, but even so: how many unopened boxes can there be at this point: 50? 100? Pretty interesting to contemplate…

Just realized you really beat the odds. Congrats. I know you sold but you should have needed to open 100 boxes for those so way ahead

nice thats probably about the top you'd get now, especially ungraded since it looks like psa 10s are (rightfully) starting to pull some premiums compared to raws or 9s or 8s

finally sold 2 of my 4 psa 10s after very little interest since they came back

This one was sitting for awhile and just sold. I still have the Zendaya PSA 10 from my one and only pack but other 3 cards moved for about $400 total.

Someone bought my Chani PSA 10 overnight off of COMC. I ended up clearing just shy of $700 in COMC credit from the 4 cards in my box. Probably would have cleared more just selling the box unopened during the initial run up but it’s always fun to crack wax to see what you get.

The new Disney Genesis product reminded me a little bit of this product… the last time I checked the few big 1/1s were still not seen, has anyone seen any new ones pulled lately? I had a great time opening these last summer and still have a couple boxes left that I was debating on ripping lately. I would have to think the Chalamet, Zendaya and Austin Butler 1/1s would be pretty huge cards right?

Yea I don’t think any of those have been posted anywhere. Will be interesting to see where these cards go if the next movie is as big of a hit as the second movie

Thanks for bumping this thread! I actually had a bit of post-sale regret shortly after selling the above card and I bought back a different copy a little later for like $20 or so cheaper. I think this set is amazing and a great longterm hold.
