The St. Pete's stadium deal is dead. It hasn't been explicitly said but the Rays had a 3/31 deal to show that they had $700 million... which I am guessing they do not.
The plan is to play in a rebuilt Trop next year (and thereafter). The lease (as far as I know) ends in 2027. They'll probably keep extending that lease on a yearly basis.
I don't think selling the team will solve anything at this point. It'll take a year plus for that to happen, and then he/she would have to figure out best place and location for a stadium, followed by all the rigamarole of that
might be easier to contract the rays and expand by three teams

Seems to me like a billionaire playing games again just to get a better deal/bigger handout.
