This is the one time that I hope a breaker pulls the Caitlin Gold Vinyl early so all these scalping retailers lose money.

There is almost no hobby boxes moving at these prices. They will come down regardless to how long the big Caitlin cards stay hidden. These prices are nuts. And not normal nuts either. These are irrational nutty prices.

Retailers are in shambles. They can't make $1000 profit on hobby boxes lol

Likely somewhere between 20,000 and 25,000 cases printed > at that kind of retail value, we're talking about $325MM worth of product.

There are 142 different Caitlin Clark cards in the release. Such a terrible oversaturation for any kind of long-term value.

Singles all over eBay, CC cards seem to be flying already.
I'd never pay these hobby prices, but could be some value in retail!

Yeah, I was planning on buying. Would love to buy at 999 which is what I was looking for over that forget it and that’s even extreme, but I knew that.

Great time to buy wnba select singles! Prizm will come down. The breaks I have watched have been brutal so far.

How did you run that estimate? Hobby looks to be sub 2k cases if my quick math made any sense. ~1,200 #d parallels per player base, 150 base on checklist, 8 #d base per box.

And who makes all that profit? Panini is selling almost all these hobby boxes for give or take $255 a box. That's not factoring in their cost per box. Secondary seller/breaker makes the rest of the profit. In terms of percentage this may be an anomaly but in terms of who gets the biggest piece of the pie it's the same story the last 5 years. The small group of secondary sellers/breakers Panini deems worthy are the ones making the real money.

Your numbers are way off based on the side calcs I've been doing based on what I'm watching.

My guess is 1k. The blue discos are only available for concourse cards, and they're /125 for a 100 card checklist. I feel like you'd get 12-14 per case, which rounds to around 1k cases.

That's my guess too. I saw 25 red /299 go in a case. That rounds to 2k

How does Panini go from MAPP pricing to handing hundreds of millions to the distributor money tree?

My hat is 100% off to Panini on this. The MSRP is insane, but if you're looking for value this product is actually loaded. I think there's 6-700 color Caitlin autos, and if I assume that even only another 400ish base autos, that's still a Caitlin auto every other case. It definitely seems like you're more likely than not to get at least one numbered CC card per case, and plenty of other cards of her. In a time when this stuff is hyperdiluted in every other sport, I think this is at least an attempt to make this product actually pretty good in exchange for the crazy high prices.

MAPP is related to minimum sell prices for the first 30 days....otherwise capitalist principles apply

I noticed CC autos are back for this product vs redemptions in Draft Picks which I am guessing is related to whatever internal issues there were with releasing that product more timely?

Boxes are down to $900 in some places. The breaks have been absolutely awful so far. Select was great. I can imagine retail print runs will also be nuts.

Panini website says sold out, I don't believe it for a second. Probably sold it to wholesalers at $300 a box

Are you looking at case breaks or box breaks? I'd imagine on a box level there's a ton of risk in walking away with nothing, but on a case level I haven't seen anything opened without at least one serious Caitlin card in it, to say nothing of the rest of the product.
