Well I guess saw someone saw the sale for the 1989 superfractor on Golden and went and bought this one on eBay for 15K which still is crazy https://www.ebay.com/itm/176427867721

Yep, the mb was me. I cleaned up pretty good - definitely expended a lot of my cash.

You did well on that Mega Box auto! I sold a BGS 9 back in 2021 for $15k and for reference, I believe base PSA 10 autos were selling for about $7k at the time. Super low number of these out there and his only regular refractor rookie auto I think. Great for buying but I glanced at the listing and it was just the usual bland description of the card, I wish the auction houses would put a little more effort into unique cards like this. Congrats on the purchase!

Curious, how can one tell the difference between this Bowman Megabox CRASO versus a regular CRASO purely from an appearance perspective (besides the description on the PSA label)?

The surface has a shiny refractor finish to it, like a typical refractor auto numbered to 499 would have. Ohtani didn’t have a refractor auto to 499 in the product. The mega box autos were inserted as redemptions and were supposed to just be regular base autos but when they arrived they ended up being unnumbered refractors. Based on what I’ve seen my guess would be that there were only 10-15 redemptions inserted into the mega boxes.

Just about $44,000. So I believe that passed the PSA 10/10 from earlier this year

Thanks, guys. Was definitely prepared to go higher on the mb but was pleasantly surprised it didn't turn into a dog fight. I feel like the result would have been different if people actually appreciated what this card was, as nextlevel10 suggested. It just never comes up.

Man, the autos on the pitching BC rookie are so much nicer than the batting ones. Also it was printed first. Really don't get the hype of the batting image.

I've been screaming this for years

Also much tougher condition with a PSA gem rate in the 20-25% versus batting with a gem rate close to 50%.

If I ever decide to upgrade my PSA 9 Finest auto to a Bowman Chrome, I'm 100% going with the pitching.
