I will be at the game today to hopefully see an Orioles win and Holliday’s first career hit! Should be a good pitching matchup as well.

Two weeks from last post and I’m heading back to the game today. I was hoping Holliday would settle in after nabbing his first hit but looks like the minors will be the best for him for now.
Will be fun to see Suarez pitch today. He’s been solid in his first 2 outings and it’s a cool story that he was able to work his way back into the majors after such a long absence. I love going to games but one bad thing about the Orioles recent success is that you now have to deal with long bathroom and concession lines. It used to be so easy. |

Yeah… Kimbrel is horrible. Who is next in line? Tate?

As long as our players don’t situationally start banging on trash cans, we should have a contending, scandal free Team for years to come .,,,

I would have thought the Yankees would have swept the A's too. I hate scrappy little teams who overplay against good teams like the Yankees and orioles.

Not sure who the better candidate would be. Good situational middle relievers on the roster, but don't know any ideal closers in that bunch. Povich in AAA, but prob wouldn't want to dump him right into the fire.

Which of the young guys gets their contract extended first? I think we need to lockdown Grayson as he looks like he’s a legitimate ace. But will we be able to afford extending him, Gunnar, and Adley? Probably not.
And I can see all of them wanting to test the market when they become eligible. |

As Spencer Strider just showed giving a lot of money to any young pitcher is a massive risk, and with the rate of TJ on the climb it doesn’t seem like the best approach. That leaves Adley as the most likely candidate and he’s under control until 2027 when he will be 30 so as a catcher that’s his one chance to cash in, unless they do something that maybe buys out his first two years of Free Agency. I could see something like that potentially 6 years/110 mil where your looking to buyout his arb years and 2 prime years but he can reach FA and still have enough tread to sign another fairly big deal. Time will tell if this is a mid-2010 Cubs situation where you leverage the youth to win a title but can’t manage the contracts and control in a way to sustain it. Or more akin the the current Braves situation where you’re aggressive and able to lock up a lot of your core and then make acquisitions around the edges. Maybe a longer window but alot less flexibility. |

Maybe Webb can be the new closer? Tonight he looked really sharp!

I'm a huge fan of using the right guy based on rest and L/R matchups in the 9th rather than having a guy attached to an inning with no statistical reasoning for it myself. He was the right guy for tonight and killed it.
