How to grade severely trimmed card?

Hi All. I acquired a small collection of Topps baseball from 55 and 56. Most have tape marks on the corners and are in rough shape, but I bought it just to cherry pick a few cards I like out of all of them. One is a 55 Jackie Robinson, but it's severely trimmed, like one whole side by the red diamond Dodgers logo was trimmed from the "d" and through "Ja" in his name, probably at least 1/4" of the card.

I'd like to get it graded just to encapsulate it, but will it even get a 1? Is there a different place I should send it instead of PSA? Not sure the best route with this one due to so much missing. Thanks for the advise.

No, it definitely will not get a 1. SGC does a good job about custom cutting their inner black frame to the size of a cut down card. If you've simply got to slab it (and you don't), I'd go that route.

Sounds like it would just get AUTHENTIC, (likely) or 1 (highly unlikely but ya never know). Probably just send to SGC since theres not much value difference on the low end.

And make sure you tell em to slab no matter what the grade

It will not get a number grade. AUTHENTIC ALTERED from PSA or AUTHENTIC TRIMMED from SGC.

For PSA, put in the notes to slab as AUTHENTIC ALTERED and put a sticky note on the card saver.

SGC may slab it w/o a note. I sent a min-size card to SGC once and they slabbed it AUTHENTIC, so I thought they slabbed no matter what. At least now they put the reason on the label (used to be they did not, just AUTHENTIC even if altered / trimmed / recolored / etc)

PSA will likely use the inner sleeve if it's badly undersized. Is it cut in both directions to make it close to the size of a '57+ standard size card?

I'd say it seems like the guy who owned these originally cut all 4 sides, not sure if it's because there were tape marks, or the paper ripped or what the reason is, but all 4 sides for sure have been altered. I mainly want to send it in just to make sure it gets authenticated in case I ever want to sell it and get a different Jackie card.

Besides PSA & SGC....try using CSG...cheaper alternative (especially if just wanting it slabbed) May also be quicker turnaround time.
Tho i never used them, maybe sometime later on.
