I’ve seen some Prizm basketball and football boxes that return about $5 autos of guys I never heard of. At least you can get something back out of these, although you’re not profiting unless it’s a bigggg hit.

Haha!

I might work at Golden Arches but I can still afford cards....as long as they don't get rid of the dollar menu.

Appreciate it! You should already know that it won't be ripped though. It's going straight into the sealed PC (next to the 2022 Topps Dynasty BB case)!

1250.00 a box. JC

Give it a few weeks. And 4 out of 5 boxes per case will be 1000 dollar lose

And why is there no thread ? Because no collectors open it

This is straight gambling as we all know.

Gross and kind of sad .. 500 dollar cost ? Sell for 1200 3500 profit per case. Layton probably making 50 k today

Wise decision.

You can always become a breaker in the future if you don’t get that promotion to the fry guy you always dreamed of.

I don't want to become a breaker but I also heard that they've decided to go with you for that promotion.

I don't know what to do!!

I haven't bought into a break in years. I did lay $300 in a break to land a George Brett in a 10 caser. 50 chances, I think it's worth a shot.

What kind of market is Wemby going to sustain in this? Off hand I can remember Russell Wilson, Dan Marino, Pele, and Will Ferrell being non baseball people in this before. At one time they were hot cards, not sure how they held up

Long term I don’t think the Wemby does that great. Most collectors want him in an NBA uniform.

Thank you for bringing that up in this forum. I have always like Dynasty...

Also pulled a Tom Glavine /10, a Gerritt Cole /10 and a Tristan Casas RC /10 as well.
Damn i wish Volpe would stop signing his cards with that abbreviated auto!! His full auto would have looked so much better on this card. Still want it though.

Ok--figured I'd throw in my two cents after release day of 2023 Dynasty:

1. Beautiful cards as usual. The Vertical "Action" images are a very nice add/touch, they look great. That has not been done before with Dynasty.
2. The WBC game used autos will be huge for collectors of the WBC, they are very nice, an upgrade from the sticker auto cards in the WBC product released prior. The Silver/5 parallels all seem to have nice patches on them, some look incredible.
3. IMPORTANT for the non-basketball collectors out there: The chase for the Wemby cards is REAL and these cards WILL hold significant value. Keep in mind here a couple of things:
A. There are only 22 total Wemby cards in the entire product. There is only one "base" version (numbered to /10, /5, /1 (16 total)), and the dual with Judge(/5 and /1)..
B. The significance/provenance of the Yankees jersey--he got off a plane, and 48 hours prior to the NBA Draft, threw out a first pitch in Yankee Stadium. This is the jersey he wore for it , also featured in the Topps Now swatch cards that were released.
C. Panini is releasing "licensed" base cards, and those parallels will carry significant value. Excel_B (who hit the Ichiro MLB Logo on page 1 here) hit a true Gold Prizm /10 which is a monster card. But no Panini cards carry his auto..it could be argued that later on, when Topps gets the NBA license, that other Wemby cards will carry more value than the current-year Topps auto cards..I personally believe there will be a few current-year Topps autos that will carry LARGE value, mainly being these Dynasty cards, and the "Draft night" autos released shortly after the draft..these cards should not be underestimated. At the Dallas show last weekend, my friend showed a couple of guys a pic of the inscribed Wemby Red draft night auto /10 I hit, and they wanted to fly me out there and pay "whatever I wanted to charge" (There was no further discussion, not selling). The Wemby effect is indeed REAL. Topps has released several online auto cards since the draft night ones (commemorating 1000 points, etc), but I really think these Dynasty cards, the Draft night ones, and even the packed-out Allen &Ginter ones will carry the most value years down the road.
D. I watched the breaks that hit Youtube last night..so far, I've seen 2 of the 16 "base style" Wemby's hit, one by Layton and one by Mojobreak.

4. For the Wax hoarders--so far, the redemptions I have seen are Kodai Senga, Masataka Yoshida, and I saw the Braves Triple of Riley/Albies/Acuna as a redemption on eBay. Most of the big names are all LIVE--Ohtani/Wemby/Griffey/Trout/Ichiro/Soto/Julio Rodriguez/Witt/etc, and most of the big rookies are Live as well (Adley/Gunnar/Carroll/Walker/Casas are all LIVE). I saw a LIVE Ohtani/Trout Dual hit as well.
5. Collation--it is early, but the distribution seems MUCH BETTER this year..each case seems to deliver 1 big card, 1 "very good" card, and 3 others. Not many "dud" cases..again, it's early..
5. In sum: I really think this will be the biggest Dynasty release yet. the combination of Wemby, the WBC patch autos (never done this nicely before), the vertical "action" auto/patches, and a loaded rookie class makes this a home run.

Good luck to all who dare to venture into this realm, I personally love the Dynasty product line...-Matt

As we’ve seen many times before, the shine on unlicensed rookie autos fades as time passes. Wemby has very few Panini rookie cards right now. That will change over the next 12+ months. These Dynasty cards are trashy gimmicks that hopefully get eaten up by the dopes who think opening products like this is what the hobby is about.

Your negativity was expected, surprised your response was so quick! The Dothraki never sleep!

I guess with Wemby this will be determined down the road, I agree that the "later" cartoon commemorative autos Topps released may not hold value, but these Dynasty and the Draft night ones should..let's check back in 5-7 years.

It’s not negativity. It’s realism. The unlicensed exclusive rookie autos has been done before. It hasn’t worked long term. If Wemby is a mega star in 10 years, will these be the cards at the top end of the heirarchy? Maybe. But I’m guessing not. A Prizm Mojo PSA 10 just did $30.6k. Only one sale higher than that; a Bowman U Best 1/1 auto at $67k. Prizm Gold and better should do $100k+ pretty easily. Optic, Select, One & One, NT base, Flawless base, etc. will do very well. His unlicensed Topps autos will continue to be produced in big quantities, and prices will fall as more licensed options come out.

Autos aren’t the end all be all of the hobby, even if most who entered the hobby over the last four years think that.

Point taken.
I am still enjoying my Will Ferrell Dynasty card I got in 2015, so there are a few who do like the gimmicky things. I like the Dynasty product line, and have been following the product since 2014. I know I'm in the minority, to each their own.

I'm sure the Wemby Panini parallel licensed stuff will outweigh much of the unlicensed Topps issues down the line. Totally agree there. I just think a few of the items will indeed carry value..who knows.

Big difference between a Will Ferrell gimmick in a baseball product and a Wemby gimmick in a baseball product. You know this.

Not really.
Wemby throwing out the first pitch for the New York Yankees, to me, is significant enough. It wasn't the Delmarva Shorebirds or Bowie Baysox . The cards will be significant. Just my opinion.

Is Wemby throwing the first pitch significant because he’s the tallest to throw a first pitch?

I just wanted to apologize to everyone for the back-and-forth “thread derailment” above.

Looking forward to seeing any hits by folks who decided to take a stab at this product. I should get my case today or tomorrow and will try to post pics soon thereafter.
