It's like the guy who gets beat up so bad in a fight, the moment somebody comes over to check to see if they're alright, the guy starts swinging in defense not knowing the bad guys had already left.

like from a scene out of Shawshank Redemption.

Considering that since Shanahan took over as head coach, nearly every playoff game the 49ers have played in has hit the under, I'd say, yes, that is the approach the team will be taking.

Let's get back to talking about Purdy guys. Got a simple question for ya:

Haven't collected football in 20 years. What sets should I avoid for Purdy? It looks like every auto is sticker, gross. Most of these cards also look like they were designed by children and printed on 90s technology, not nearly as crisp as modern baseball. But I need some Purdy stuff, so what do I buy that's not a sticker auto?

You are correct, just about everything is sticker auto- unless you buy a card that he signed after the fact that was not originally an autographed release.
Buy what you like, what you think looks good. SSP autos will likely have better long term value as will licensed vs non licensed. Also, consider cards to buy based on how they may grade(if you plan to grade) for example thick cards, die cuts, etc usually grade worse. The acetate cards like Donruss Clearly supposedly do not grade as well. Good luck picking up something nice.

All in all if it comes down to a long term PC hold, try to get ones you like. I have 4, an Honors /20, Spectra /60, Score /75, and Limited /25.

I decided I am putting one up for auction. I love the look of the Limited, the Score is encased, so hope it can grade very well, and the Honors is a good looking SP, so that left the Spectra as the odd card out, so I am putting it up for sale. It graded 10 auto & 9.5 on the card thru SGC, I also plan to grade the other ones this month. I will hold on to these 3 long term, one of which I am passing down to my son when he's old enough.

He's quoting a certain member's first post here on page 34. It was sarcasm.

Looks like my post about snoobs not recognizing sarcasm applies to FCG as well. Blowout needs a kiddie pool for these guys.

I always assume the top/most visible cards in Gem holders will do VERY well. It's that middle place that I keep an eye on for big swings in value.

Haven't seen a ton yet. Media day is today/tonight, maybe things start to pick up.

I feel like the talking heads really lean into negative takes whenever possible: Kelce/Swift, Purdy game manager or not, etc.

Ballsy, could be worth a lot more down the line I suppose, but could see a dip as soon as Sunday.

NT RC True RPA /99 PSA 9 two color patch just sold for $14,900.

That feels about right for non-SB winning QB? Thought maybe a bit more with him knocking on the door.

Price seem decent, I'd have a hard time dropping $15k into anyone who wasn't Patty though.

I have every NT of every Niner rookie ever made. Except Brock. I have my doubts this price will hold long term even if he wins.

I bought a Kap NT @ $400 after his first start against Chicago. It was at $1000 before his Super Bowl.

I suspect cards in general will lose value. Too many busts, over saturation, too small a collector base. We’re coming down from a rare moment in the hobby (in my opinion).

Can we table the fighting for a bit? Would love to experience this thread relatively drama-free, now that we can.
