Smoked a few cigars with friends. Never felt anything or really got into it. Never smoked a cigarette.

Grew up with my dad constantly dipping. My sister picked up his habit, but I never did.

This would be an interesting juxtaposition against a “Did you grow up in a tobacco household” poll.

I had one uncle by marriage that smoked, and I didn’t know until I was 15-16. It was never around and not normalized. I had some friends in middle and high school that would smoke, but I thought it stunk and didn’t care at all. Same thing when my friends started smoking weed. It was more fun for me to watch them get high and act stupid than I could imagine it was to get high.

Quit cigarettes in 1996, never looked back. Smoke a cigar about once a week.

I smoke cigars when I play golf or I’m in Florida on the beach at the condo

So maybe 10-15 a year?

Whatever that counts in the poll

Would smoke socially / while drinking in college but I hate the flavor of tobacco so I haven’t in a long time.

I’ll smoke cigars with my dad and uncles a few times a year

I smoked half a pack of cigarettes when I was in high school until my Mom found them where I had hidden them.

I also smoked about a pack when I was in the Navy and stationed in Scotland because I was dating a woman who smoked.

I'm 50. I've never smoked or chewed tobacco a day in my life AND I've never had a full cup of coffee a day in my life either. Which I guess is weird, since both my parents smoked and drank coffee regularly.

Bonus: I've also never had a cavity in my life.

More great poll ideas!

I'm only half serious as per the norm. I probably have a litany of health related issues that are fixable if I would just go to the doctor. But men don't go to the doctor. We die of completely treatable ailments.

Just quit two months ago.....smoked a pack a day for 35 something years.

Had a stent put in my heart. It was the 6 day hospital stay that gave the head start and I am thankful as I have wanted to quit for years. Hope its not too late....

I dip way to much. It's a horrible habit. I'm spending what some people spend on car payments every month on this stuff. Multiple rolls a week.

I had quit at one point for over 2 years, then I got bored at a softball tournament, grabbed a can, and started right back. I really need to quit for good.

Sounds like another goal to add to the fitness thread.

Great job! Keep up the good work!

I smoked for 10 years and quit that to dip instead for another 10 years. I quit dip about eighteen years ago. It was a few months before my first child was born. I didn’t want dip cups hanging around a toddler.

Did you quit cold-turkey? I chewed the gum until I felt I didn’t need to anymore.

The mouth cancer pics would be enough for me. Good luck to you!

I did quit cold turkey. I had no choice. I was in the hospital for 6 days. I didn't feel the need to get the patch while there, but to be honest I didn't feel the need to smoke. I needed to be done with it as family wouldn't put up with it!

By the way I have always hated the gum, it just made me sick...

Never smoked anything ever. Parents and an older sibling were multiple packs a day. I hated then and hate now smelling/breathing second hand smoke.

For anyone trying to quit smoking, it can be done. My mom and brother both quit and stayed off of it after decades of use.

I kind of hate the fact that I do enjoy a small degree of second hand smoke.

But only in certain places. If I'm going to be sitting in a mechanic's office while my car gets worked on, for some reason smelling the old cigarettes makes me feel better about the quality of the work. Or if I'm in a small (I mean, really small) town at a local cafe and I smell a bit of smoke, I feel like the gravy is going to be thick and the chicken fried steak is going to be amazing.
