Right but he was saying you order "a dozen" ... okay so you get a box of crumbles, how many donuts is that? You don't know.

To complete his comparison, he's saying that if you ordered a dozen signed books from BAM, they would rip the pages out and put them in a box so that you don't even know how many books are in your box.

I don't buy a signed book to read. I buy a signed book to collect.

I sell a ton of books on Ebay.
I ship them all with care and have never had one complaint about them arriving damaged. True, I don't sell as many as BAM, but it is good to know that if I ever do get that big, I can ship like crap and have stuff show up damaged and people will forgive me for that since I sell a ton of books and it's to be expected to not give good service.

Note to remember that.

Great example, so your overhead is zero? Right? You just compared yourself to BAM, you must be making, what $5 on each book you sell? Same margins so if you can do it, they can do it, right?

You can AFFORD to take all day packing a book because you're making twice your money flipping it. You can't tell retailers to send people to college to learn how to pack books and then maintain their margins and compete in an online marketplace.

I mean the reality is we're arguing about nothing. In all cases it's the expectation of the buyer. Some will care, some will be annoyed but leave it alone, some will complain not caring hoping to either get the item free or a discount, and some will think the end of the world came. Where you fall will depend on how much it was, the personality, and ultimately what you plan on doing with the item. Depending what it is, all of us probably have been each of those scenarios as a buyer

I wish my overhead was $0.
We have warehouse space housing 50,000 volumes at any given time. We pay $2,500 a month rent.
We also have office space that costs $1,000 a month.
We have 2 employees who earn pretty good salaries and all the benefits that come with it.
We also have an umbrella insurance policy that ain't cheap.
Plus many more expenses.

Granted we are no BAM, but we are not making a ton per book either and still find time to package everything the way it should be.
We do ship plenty each and every day.
And every box is packaged with care and the contents arrive just as they went into the box with no damage unless specifically noted as damaged when sold.

Wow you pay all that money just to flip signed books from BAM. That's impressive. I guess I just don't understand how businesses work and you do.

C'mon, you're buying books from a huge retailer that thinks people are buying their books and reading them and then donating them to goodwill. You're turning around and selling them at rare collectible level prices. Do you see the disconnect? Do you understand that the margins you make on the books warrant your love and care? Can two employees be encouraged and monitored better than a warehouse worker making local minimum wage? Like, you run a business, why is this something that needs to be explained to you?

If you don't like it, buy the books at rare collectible level prices and yeah I agree you can demand GEM MINT ... then try flipping them.

I don't sell the books I buy from BAM or Premiere or B&N. I buy those to collect for myself.

My inventory for sale is purchased from other sources.

Sorry I seem to have hit a nerve with you.
I will leave it alone.
Clearly you are ok with getting crappy service from big on-line sellers as you think they can't do better while I am not.
You are well within your right to accept that just as I am within my right to think that is not ok.

My 2 cents. I’d be upset if my books came all dinged up too. Not enough to return it, but I would complain and maybe buy elsewhere next time.

My Dogstar album came in today. At first, I thought I received an unsigned version by mistake, but it’s actually inside the sleeve with the disc. Super happy to finally get an affordable Keanu auto!

I was really tempted to bid on the signed Brzrkr comic book that ended at $2K+ a few weeks ago. And I was chasing the signed prints from SDCC every day this summer with no luck. Anyways some pics below:

That looks great! Seeing it makes me regret not getting that Watermelon Sugar one. I got the plain vinyl instead

I looked up other listings on eBay and the signatures are consistent with slight variations. So glad it’s hand signed, and not autopen.

Patrick Stewart books from Indigo arrived today.
More of the same BS packaging.
Are they a big enough of a company to let them pass on this?

NO packaging material what so ever.
Books put in a box and sent on their merry way.
All have considerable damage.

Man, I can't wait until my company is big enough to where I can do #@#@#@#@ like this and have people championing my efforts (or lack there of).

How many Patrick Stewart books did you buy for your PC? If you have an extra you want to let go, I'd be a buyer.

Also, if anyone has an extra Brian Baumgartner signed chili book, let me know.

Well, if they could put the books into a tube you'd end up with a very long tube umm, probably extending twice the size of the books because when you collapse the book it expands and uhhh, you wouldn't want to put it into a tube.

Picture a hot dog bun and throw all the books, the hundreds of books that there are in the universe into a bag and put the inverse into a bag and all of a sudden they become, um...
