I guess it makes some sense, might as well not waste your time playing those guys when you can give young guys experience… but that’s pretty unprecedented.

To be fair, it's only in the first few years where there aren't revocable waivers. I really wish they would bring August trades back. It would prevent this nonsense.

But, we have seen this before - a situation where the eventual World Series champion won with the help of players they got for "free." In 2021 Atlanta got Eddie Rosario and Adam Duvall from the Indians and Marlins.

This was the funny one: The Braves trade Pablo Sandoval* to Cleveland for Eddie Rosario and cash.

*Pablo Sandoval was insta-cut

Duvall was acquired for... Alex Jackson. To be fair, Alex did catch in 42 games for the Marlins the rest of that season... and hit .157 striking out in half of his 163 plate appearances.

In the playoffs, Duvall had 3 HR and 10 RBI.

Rosario had 11 R scored and was the NLCS MVP with 3 HR, a 2B, a 3B, .560 avg and 9 RBI.

To give them to other teams for free (pro rated salary I know) is a joke

Again as I said above. Would you let a fantasy manager drop all the players they didn’t need anymore? Of course not. Every other team would be mad

Angels can afford to bench and pay for the rest of the year
